I am not speaking for the "victims" I am sticking up for Boyle. What you see and others see are 2 different things. Many find the royals are nice people but they get stick.

The issue here, which seems to be derailed by spurious passive/agressive arguements, is that "The left" are attempting to have it both ways. If racism is a serious offence, which it is now as its enshrined in hate laws, then you cant go around making casual allegations of racism because you dont like the comedian, or whatever persons opinions. Or you are accusing the person of a degree of criminality.

BTW

On closer inspection the targets of humour usually dont care, its the "professional complainers" who are "offended". Being offended on behalf of someone else is really pathetic imo.

For the record I don't find Boyle, or anyone else for that matter , offensive but you are clearly just using this as another excuse to have a go at Lefty's. And yes, you did speak for the "victims".

Did scoutmaster jokes pass you by or were you offended by them?

i dont find commedians offensive, if you dont like you turn of simple. Yes you are right I am having a go at the left here, as thats what Boyle suing the Mirror for racist allegations appears to be so not an excuse.

Boyle imo is a commedian who takes no prisoners, he has no sacred cows and will target anyone. I find some of his stuff hilarious, including the Thatcher rant. We need more commedians like this not fewer.

I agree to a degree. 90% of his stuff I can take or leave but he has said some corkers in his time I'll definately give him that!

I think people are missing what I believe was the OP's point, that Boyle is a hypocrite because he maintains that it's okay to say whatever you like about basically anyone or anything (allegedly in the name of 'humour'). But the Daily Mirror describes him as racist and he throws his toys out of the pram - You live by the sword.... IMO. To be honest, I'd have bit more respect for him if he'd have responded along those lines, that he's hardly in a position to complain. Knobend.

Just because he tells jokes for a living, does makes it acceptable to label him racist? - No, but your saying that he should accept being labelled something he isn't because it would be hypocritical to contest it even if it is completely untrue just because of his chosen profession. - Is that fair? surely your racist or not and shouldn't have to accept being called something like that when your not just because a section of the public don't find you funny.

Would it be acceptable to you if someone were to make false claims about you in print, read my thousands (? - don't know if that is being over generous to the Mirror) and would you contest it or accept or ignore it just because some people don't like your chosen style in your profession? - Would you ignore it even if the untrue claim against you could affect your future employment opportunities / future earnings / reputation?

Just won the 'racist' part of the lawsuit, £50,000 from The Mirror.

Frankie Boyle has won £50,400 damages after a High Court jury concluded that he had been libelled by the Daily Mirror.

Boyle, aged 40, from Glasgow, claimed that the Daily Mirror defamed him by describing him as racist.

They have yet to reach a verdict on a second issue - relating to a Daily Mirror report that the comedian had been "forced to quit" BBC panel show Mock The Week.

Daily Mirror publisher Mirror Group Newspapers had defended the article, which was published on July 19, 2011, claiming the "racist" description was either true or "honest comment on a matter of public interest".

Good. It was always going to happen as the Mirror, legally, were COMPLETELY in the wrong.

I don't have a huge amount of sympathy for Boyle, but I don't for one second think he is a racist, and if someone says that he is in print, then he should sue them. Sounds like he'll win, and the best thing he could do is give the cash to charity (which I suspect he will).

.

Next week's news today

I should go into PR.

Frankie Boyle (frankieboyle) on Twitter

I'm very happy with the jury's decision and their unanimous rejection of the Mirror's allegation that I am a racist. Racism is still a very serious problem in society which is why I've made a point of always being anti-racist in my life and work and that's why I brought this action. I am giving my damages to charity.
