Coventry have now won their last three matches against teams in the top half of the Championship table - Bristol City, Blackburn Rovers and Watford - to move up to 12th. Seems Frank Lampard has got them playing extremely well despite the absence of forwards Haji Wright and Epson Mason-Clark. The Championship might be his level but credit where credit's due. 👏👏

Yes. Like to see Coventry doing well and wish Frank well. Debate on 5 live a month or so ago saying someone like Brighton should give him a chance (British manager) and he would've been a good choice working with quality young players.

He was my choice for England manager. Half of the battle is having players who like you. He'd do well there, as did Southgate. And I think he's a better manager than Southgate was.

Got a soft spot for Cov (the city and the team), having been to uni there many moons ago. From all the teams up there, I would prefer them to come up to the PL over the others – I was gutted when Saints beat them last season, compounded by bad luck in the FA semi-final, too.
I don't mind Lampard either. I don't get (or like) the 'fat Frank' tag – it's not big or clever, it's just lazy. If that makes me WOKE, then so be it

Lampard was my choice for England manager. Average manager, perhaps, but half the battle is getting a team that likes you and will play for you. He has that in spades. I think he would have done as well as anyone. He did okay in his first season at Chelsea and wasn't given much of a chance to remedy a bad run in the second. Everton, well that was a basket case.

Chelsea is just not a team to have on your CV. Cursed.

I have a soft spot for the Sky Blues, having attended the Poly there many(very many) moons ago. I was at Highfield Road on the day that a promotion chasing Albion were at Gay Meadow. 0-0 at half time, then, when the final scores were announced it was Shrewsbury 3 - pause for ribbing from mates - Brighton 5. He who laughs last, eh?

I’m sure there was a pub in Longford that had a talking parrot whose repertoire included “Up the City……Silly buggers”

It would be great if he could repeat what he did at Derby and knock Leeds out of the playoffs.

Contrary to the rest of you, I've never liked Lampard and I think he deserved to be mocked after posting a win percentage of NINE per cent during his last stint at Chelsea. His record at Everton was better, at 27%, but that's still pretty poor (for context, Hyypia won 23% of his games managing us, so that's the kind of territory we're in).

But I've gotta hand it to him, he's getting the job done at Coventry, a proper club whose fans have been through the wringer over the last decade or two in a way that should be sadly familiar to all Brighton fans. I hope he gets them over the line.

I’ve never forgiven them for this abomination of an away kit, in BROWN…

I seem to recall some of their players getting “lost“ in the shadows of the West Stand at The Goldstone! 🤣

I live in and around Cov.and go to the odd game. My local pub runs a bus so it's as simple as falling out my house and hey presto.

From the interviews I watch, he very much has an improvement mindset. Whilst no one wouldn't argue he was particularly awful in the 2nd stint at Chelsea he (a) was on a hiding to nothing in temporary charge and (b) has learnt rather than be defined by the experience..People also forget he did alright at Derby (cov are playing them tonight) in the Championship.

The Championship is also a different place to when we got promoted. There were lots of teams spending big money to go up which - by and large - has dried up. Covid hit revenues much more than the PL. Consequently, you don't need to be that good to be top half and Coventry have made the most of what they have. If they got promoted they'd likely struggle as the Ipswich cup game illustrated they haven't got a stellar group of players as well as a patient enough fan base for possession based football from the back when it starts to go tits up. It could be a bit Southampton if they go up.

I definitely have a soft spot for Cov as my wife was born there. Both her mums and dad's side of the families all live there and all support Cov. Definitely a team I look out for and would love them in the PL.
