Not really. In the queue for the tube there were a few “bender” chants which were met with a “rent boy” response. So 1-1…….which was quite a good result for Chelsea

I love Tim Vickery almost as much as Caicedo. A reminder what proper football journalism looks like.

But as well as winning the ball he is just so good on the ball in VERY tight spaces. Essential to how we play. I can’t think of anyone as good at that play making AND the ball winning.

He is the most important player , everything (well nearly everything) happens because of him.

If I have to give a criticism is that while you seem to always know what to do when attacking the opposition's area, you seem to have less of a clear plan when defending your own area, where you often left yourselves wide open

Is that not because we're attacking in such numbers that sometimes we're going to be vulnerable to the counter?

A goal that shouldn't have stood. Kane was blocking the keepers view. Corrupt match officials helping Spurs again.

I actually thought that was the correct decision I thought the deflection meant that the keeper had no chance of saving it, so Kane being there made no difference.

Thankfully Spurs lost anyway

Wow. I’ve been watching the Albion for many years and think this was the most complete away performance I’ve witnessed. Never thought I’d ever see us completely outclass and embarrass a team like Chelsea home and away ( though let’s not forget they’ve not always been what they pretend to be today - they spent a while in the “second division “). Our one touch passing and movement today was wonderful. We were more determined than the opposition, won most of the 50/50 balls ( which lead to our winner) and created so many chances.

Enciso and Dunk stood out for me today, though the entire team worked their socks off. Mitoma gave Chalobah the same roasting that Trent experienced (twice) and at times we completely over-ran them. Did Sterling touch the ball more than 4 times?

The last time I went to Chelsea was under the wonderful Chris Hughton when we had our one and only attempt on goal in the 87th minute. How times have changed!

On the downside, it’s hard to imagine that we’d be able to sign Colwill permanently - surely even Lampard could see that he’d walk into their team.

I’ve been watching Brighton for too many years. NOTHING in our history comes close to this shit. The Wardy, Lawrenson, Nobby & Sully days were my halcyon ones until now. This team and DeZerbi coaching is off the scale. We must be one of the top 5 or 10 sides on the planet. (Hyperbole switch turned off).

Good to hear... I haven't been to Stamford Bridge since the 80s, and in those days it really was a trip into bandit country. Interesting that you mention a queue for the tube... makes me laugh that so many Albion fans think they should be able to get on a train immediately at Falmer...

Yeah but that's to be expected and something you already defend against by getting the ball back as soon as you can by pressing very intensely and high up the pitch. What I'm referring to is not fast transitions (you're improving in those and your defenders have become very good 1v1) but rather rare spells of the game when the other team has most of the ball and you sit deeper. Like the end of this match. Those are not expected in your plan, and as a matter of fact De Zerbi said he didn't like those final 10 minutes because you sat too deep and that's not a style you train, and so it's not a situation in which you play well and it becomes paradoxically even riskier for you than pressing with a high defense. That's what I mean when saying that you don't have a very precise plan for defending in your own area, but De Zerbi already addressed it after the match by saying you shouldn't find yourselves in that position in the first place, at least not for as long as you were today at the end.

I wanted to make this point earlier, but now I've seen it again, I want to give a shout for Pascal Gross in our first goal.
He can put a ball on a dinner plate. He made his cross for Welbeck, and he didn't have to move. The ball arrived right on his head.

Groß has a stunning right foot you know.

However, the left peg took centre stage with that Welbzfinder extraordinaire!
