Will they be comparing house prices though ???

Lens I think is in northern France , that’s the cheapest area in France as a region to live in . I suspect if he does become the new manager he will be surprised at the property prices in Brighton & Hove . Has he been managing Nice , he wouldn’t be surprised.

Interestingly Leicester are being linked with Lens Belgium forward Lois Openda 22, 4 goals in 6 games so far for Lens. A double swoop perhaps?

Population of lens 30.000 home attendances 38.000 he's obviously doing something right

Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk

If he can replicate that here, we'll have about 400,000 for every home game!

I'm sure Southern trains won't let us down.

Bit of a difference. Like 100% of the people in Greece are good at English, the vast majority probably better than you, meaning there's no real need to learn a foreign language. Different for Bielsa as I imagine most people in England doesn't understand Spanish.

I don't think Bielsa talked "perfectly good English" as some say but I'm guessing he picked up some of the basics. Either way, don't really hold it against him - the ability to learn new languages goes downhill from your mid 20s and when you're in your 60s it is going to be very difficult to become fluent in a new language.

I honestly don’t get this idea that you don’t need to learn the lingo if most people speak English. I’m learning Greek at the mo, and it’s fascinating - if challenging!! I agree that it’s difficult to find Greeks who don’t speak English, but you get a totally different reaction if you try to speak to someone in their own language. Maybe in Sweden it’s different as most Swedes seem to use English almost like their own language!!
But my experience in France, where I lived and worked for about 18 months, is that you have MUCH better experiences if you speak French.

I've got to say, an English speaker would be better in my view. I hate how little englander I just sounded there. I just think communication is so vital, inevitably some context gets lost during translation.

Where in Greece have you been? I'd say that compared to the rest of Europe Greece is the country that has the lowest portion of English speakers.

According to the European Commission, 33% of the Greek population speak English, compared to 24% of the French population. The lowest percentage is Spain with 12% (which sounds about right, I've not found many English speakers when I've been there)

Do we know he doesn't?

Well I don't. I'd not heard of him until yesterday.

As a general principle I'd regard poor English as a significant drawback in a potential manager, (that also applies if they are, in fact, English)

Spain's a funny one. All young people learn English at school and large numbers of kids, teens and adults go to extra English classes in the evenings. To graduate from uni here you have to have a decent level of English and many jobs require it to. However, a sizeable chunk of the population are terrified of speaking it.

One of the big blocks is that the hispanosphere is so large. Who needs English when there's an inexhaustible supply of Spanish literature, music and films? Same reason that English speakers tend to be poor language learners.

It's starting to change over here though due to the internet amongst other things.

So we have a potential French managerial candidate who possibly doesn't speak any English. He'll be needing a translator.

Bloom likes employing people with connections to the club. We've just lost a club legend who was part of the first team coaching group, plus a handy translator for any new spanish speaking signings.

What we need then is someone to replace Bruno, someone with links to the club and someone who could act as translator for our new french speaking gaffer. Someone who's career is recently ended or winding down.

Ladies and Gents, if Haise is our new manager it can only mean one thing.

The return of THIS man:
