Interesting that the 'columnist' who wrote that also said it's on a par with Rebel Moon, therefore I shall be giving Coppola's movie a go for certain. Rebel Moon is a great film, a different slant on the normal SF formula, plus it looks great, with excellent effects and a fascinating storyline. Whoever Drew Magary is, I'd suggest you ignore any of his/her reviews in future.

What an indulgent, pretentious, boring mess.
There's some excellent technical work, sets and costumes. There's some impressive and some terrible effects work.
Terrible script.
Not entirely sure that there is a story.
