If it is France v Argentina (which I expect to be) I hope France win 5-0.

My first England game ever was against Argentina in 1991 at Wembley with my Dad (the week before we lost to Notts County in the play off final - we bought tickets for that before the game ) We blew a 2-0 lead to draw against a scratch Argentina side who went batshit at full-time - they ran round Wembley waving their shirts above their heads goading everyone. Just like the goaded the Dutch on Friday night after the penalty shoot out. Just like they goaded the England team bus in Saint Ettiene in 1998. They're ****s. Utter ****s.

It's always the problem with cup competitions like the FA and World Cup. It's fun at first seeing some of the big or even small names go out and there have been a few in this one. The Germans in the group stages, the 2 late Iran goals V Wales, Brazil getting done on penalties and the Japan goal V Spain. The trouble now is that we are at a fight to the death between 2 Sith lords assuming France do the expected. Even the presence of Ali Mac in the Argies team can't make me remotely like the them. I hope they both lose.

Given the choice, I'd rather England were in the final of course.

But having a BHA player on the World's biggest football stage is a moment I thought I'd never see in 40 years of supporting the stripes.

I have felt it would be an Argentina win for some time now. When you think about it, it then becomes clear that a Messi v Mbappe final is the dream ticket for FIFA, and then also for Qatar given the ownership of PSG too. They basically pay the salaries of the top 2 players in the tournament so why wouldn’t they want them both in the final?

Not normally a betting person but I did put a couple of ‘insurance’ bets around this happening which I have cashed out now for a decent return.

I detest the way Argentina play, the special treatment Messi gets, the ‘dark arts’ they practice (cheating) and basically don’t care who wins it now as long as it’s not them.
I'm with you all the way when it comes to the arrogance of Argentina and the way they seem to manipulate everybody and everything in order wo win games by fair means or foul. Emiliano Martinex taking time wasting to a whole new level, as we saw at the Amex in our last game against Villa.

I'm not so sure the French are very much different though, several of their players laughing in the faces of the England team when Harry Kane missed his penalty. Showed no respect at all.

I know you love to take the opposite view in most football situations, for whatever reason, but please enlighten me who the better teams in the tournament are if the French are FAR from the best team. Also bear in mind the number of injured French players and let me know of any other team who could progress as well as the French with as many key players out.
Oh l think my opinions are very conservative compared to many on here and am normally happy to go along with the majority viewpoint.

I suppose what l was trying to say, is thatFrance, although they are favourites to win it, have nothing like the best players, or the skill, of many former World champions, the great Brazilian, or German sides of the past for instance.

Of course they have done well to get this far, and all you can do is beat the teams that are put in front you, but l have seen many many better sides in past World Cups, that's for sure.

Fair enough, I thought you meant of teams in this current World Cup

Saudi's beating Argentina. I would hardly say Iran beating wales is a shock. They are 19th and 20th in the Fifa rankings. They should have been 3 up before the 2 late goals.

In this world cup other than Qatar i think the football has shown that international football is much more level playing field than decades ago. Any reasonable team can beat one of the top teams.

Agree with this too. Other than the brilliance of Mbappe (which we stopped when we played them) they don't see all that to the previous world cup winners.

I agree that Wales getting beat by Iran was hardly a surprise but it was great fun to watch from the sending off onwards.

As for this game, Morocco are making a decent fist of this albeit still expect a comfortable French win.

Did you actually dream it might happen then ? Because I never did.
