Coldean, Bevendean and 'scoomb have big Albion support. Don't forget that the pub at Coldean (damn - forgotten it's name) have a footie side that play in Albion colours.

Do the students really want to build a camp right next to 'scoomb? Could get nasty.
Hiker's Rest.

So, are we looking to fill the history books with tales of the Battle of the Falmer Fallowfields '08/09?

I think now is the time to show the nimbys they were wrong and that we will be good neighbours they can benefit from - not a bunch of gloating tossers.

I'm sorry but I can't go along with this, for all the lies, doctoring of photos and blatan untrue propaganda they can go f*** themselves.

Their letter sums up just what they are, a group of people who really are of no significance with ideas way above their station. I'm a parish councillor and all we really have influence on is cutting the grass and where to site a new dog turd bin. I bet they have really loved all the attention they have attracted over the past few years and they have been succesful in halting the stadium and almost putting the Albion out of business.

They have the cheek to say that the final decision is political rather based on planning. The fact that they have been able to cause so much trouble for so long is political. If the stadium was being sited at the back of Moulscombe we would have been playing there by now because the residents there do not have friends in high places.

I feel sorry for those in Falmer that have genuine concerns, but hopefully they will come to realise that it not the end of the world for them. However I hope Falmer Parish Council are feeling humiliated tonight.

Also what has happened to the LDC councillors, such as Neil Commin, who said he would resign if the decision went against them.

I'm sorry but if it is going to be so awful for them even compared to living next door to a university and right next door to one of the most manic roads in the south. Then maybe its time for them to move somewhere else!! Life goes on, deal with it. Myself, I cant wait till the day they start building, so I can drool over it. Come on you Seagulls!!!!

He's wagging his tail in Anne De Vecchi's kitchen waiting for his can of Pedigree Chum.

How will his business be severely impacted. I've looked at the inlays of the stadium impression on another thread and it seems to be well away from his farm shop. And I note that last June, the B&H council (as owner of the freehold) disposed of around 8 acres. He rents nearly 620 acres from the council between the A27 and the nearby village of Falmer. Approximately 180 acres of land is situated to the west of the B2123 (Falmer Road).

Good post. It shows it in perspective

I, for one, would probably pop in the shop after a match to buy something for Sunday lunch.
It will probably increase his trade.

Will the club sell fresh fruit and veg then?

The point of my post is that Peter will not lose his livelihood but as Storer68 said, he will only be losing a small part of it. A very small part.

So there are. I doubt if he will be open though. I fully expect him to get steel barriers put up so that the hooligans don't wreck his shop.

*said with sarcasm (as was my post about buying his fruit and veg)

Personally it has been a long drawn out battle which has been fought bitterly and contested to the hilt.

We appear now to have won which was the main objective and the previous application did have an error in it.

I really don't care for any gloating, we have what we wanted - be happy !

The parish council said the stadium was a tragedy for Falmer.

Hmmm. A tragedy? Let's see.

Hundreds of innocent people have been killed by suicide bombers in Iraq today. That is a tragedy.

A man in London who tried to stop a group of yobs from chucking rubbish into his sister's car is beaten to death by them. That is a tragedy.

A father and son in Gloucestershire are killed trying to save their local rugby clubhouse from recent floods. That is a tragedy.

A football stadium to be built on a ploughed field next to a dual carriageway, which will be in use for approximately 23 days out of 365 every year?

I appreciate it's an emotive issue for all parties involved, but I'm not sure "tragedy" is remotely appropriate in the circumstances. FFS.
