Rooney better than Drogba???

The list is rubbish on so many levels. First of all, it seems to be based upon perceived 'quality' of the player. So Ferdinand is 24, Carragher, who is just as good a centre-half, but not as stylish or skillful, is 97.

It is also based on reputation, and weighs past performance far too heavily in my opinion. Is Roberto Ayala really the 16th best player on the planet, even at 34 (or whatever age he is now)? Maldini at 28?

Nonwithstanding the point, as Hans Kray pointed out, that it's absolutely impossible to compare entirely different players (in terms of position and style) and say who is better. They would have been much better off coming up with "10 greatest fullbacks", "10 greatest centre backs", etc.

 - seriously i watched the whole (nigh on ) of the Arsenal Invincable season and most the stuff pre and post that , even going to Highbury , watched him play for England and now at Chelsea and STILL don't see the worthiness of the hype surrounding him!

I think the fact that he was pretty much one of our better players at World Cup 2002, Euro 2004 and World Cup 2006 puts him in the world class bracket. He also tends to get the better of Cristiano Ronaldo the majority of times he plays against him.

Im with you, he is one of the few England players that seems to take pride in playing for his country as well, One of the few players I felt sorry for after the pens in 04.
