In my opinion, there is a big difference to a player who is ex international and hadn't played for his club properly for 18 months. He had a long list of injury problems and was very much an unknown quantity of what he would provide when he got here, I think even he didn't know what he could provide for the club.

However lets look at Raul. He is currently at Schalke, he's made 45 apps for them this season and scored 20 goals at the highest level, only a few weeks ago he bagged his 77th goal in european competitions. Schalke are 3rd in the Bundesliga, Valencia are 3rd in La Liga, so arguably the same sort of calibre of side.

I know this was only light - hearted and if Raul signed I think I'd die, but there is a big difference between what Vicente was when signing and what Raul would be, a man who can score goals and make 45 apps at 34 years of age at the highest level and someone who hadn't in a long time.
