Property prices, no doubt
Can you blame them? If some thing was being built next door to your house that was going to have a negative affect on it's value would you want it built?

Well, I have never been in that position as I do not own a property. I would like to think I would judge it on it's merits, but it may well be a different story if I were going to be adversely affected, finacially speaking.
Besides, do you think is it going to have a negative effect on their prices?

I'm no estate agent but I can't see it adding any value if I'm honest. Can only see it having a negative affect.

I would be minded to agree, but Falmer Village seems fairly affluent despite being under attack from various universities, roads and other developments.
I am not sure I could oppose the building of Falmer, if it were a do or die option, and I was a supporter - I.e. Mr Cuttress. Difficult to say, as I am not in that position though. Could you?

BOF (and others), I think you need to get your facts right.
Firstly, yes I do work for the company, at their main depot in Molsecoomb, so I know Quite a bit more about this situation than 99% of people on here.
To say that Forfars as a company are opposed to falmer is utter tosh. The bosses wife (who doesnt work for the company) Is the only member of the cutress familly who has publically opposed to the stadium. The vast majority of them are in favor of the stadium. I personally know the familly and have done for many years. One of them used to teach me at secondary school and she Is very much supprtive of the ground And a lifelong season ticket holder (as are others)
The company itself has never been "anti Falmer". Infact they played an integral part in the bring home the albion campaign (I will elaborate if neaded).
Funny how people Jump to conclusions without knowing any of the facts.
Whilst i do not condone (or agree with) the views of the woman at the center of this thread debate, I think a lot of the treatment of the familly and Forfars on this board is Quite uncalled for tbh.

Well said Statto, the lady that used to serve me in St James St branch Joan was a massive Albion fan (hi if she's reading), from the day I walked in wearing the stripes she'd always give me a cheeky free pasty and the like, legendary

lol. Well I dont ever venture out to the shops much as I work in the depot. But ill ask the driver. I think he may be an albion fan aswell.

I don't how affluent the people involved are has anything to do with it, people generally don't like losing money regardless of how much money they've got in the bank.
Fair point and no of course not, I personally couldn't see any football club go out of business. I genuinely don't think there can be many people who would want anything that is so important to the local community to cease to exist. I don't care for motorsport but I think it would be dreadful if this country lost the F1 GP. That said i wouldn't want a race track built at the bottom of my garden to save it.
What you have got to remember is there are many people including Brighton fans who thought there were better sites for the ground to be built. Now I'm sure you're going to come back and say the club did untold studies and found Falmer to be best site but in hindsight has it been? Every site had it's plus and negative points and I'm sure we would have had opposition where ever the club wanted to build it, but would we have suffered the untold problems we have had the club decided on Toads Hall or Waterhall for example. The simple answer is we will never know (at least I hope we will never know.....well in my life time at least!) but it does nothing to dissuade the people who didn't think Falmer was the right site that their opinion wasn't correct.

Erm... Firstly, well done for working at the depot. I am not quite sure how that means you know more about the public display of opposition from the Cuttress family.
Where did I say 'the company' was against the building of Falmer? I said the owners were. Tim Cuttress is also against the building of Falmer, as quoted on here many a time.
I am sure there are employees of the House of Commons that would never vote Labour, but work under the current government.
Would you say that the treatment of Wickes was unforgivable? Pretty much the same situation, in my opinion. Besides, I am sure they don't miss my financial input. It used to average something along the lines of £1 (if that) a week. Certainly easier to boycott, now that I have fled to Londontown.

Falmer Stadium was indentified as the only site viable. The Cuttress family were opposing that, by any means possible. Effectively wishing to sign the death certificate of the club - A.K.A. Bill Archer attempting to run the club out of business by whatever means. Plenty of Brighton fans cause mayhem in the various Wickes/Focus stores and boycotted.
The point was, Einstein, that it is easy to boycott a store/firm/franchise, when you never come into contact with it.

Balls. I wrote out a response to most points and my battery died before I could post. So forgive me for the light response.
I meant property prices when I referred to afluence and it was a rough measure by the high prices that were listed on rightmove.
As far as Falmer being the only site concerned, I agree with much of what you say. However, it is difficult to say whether we had a reasonable chance of securing/funding/building a stadium at an alternative site. I guess one might be slightly naive to believe that the club did not have a plan B?

I dont buy any bread in Forfars because I think that it is of poor quality and I can get better elsewhere. Nothing to do with Melanie Cutress being against the Falmer Stadium. As a parish councillor of the local parish that it affects she the right to object and she did today, the same as she has done previously................spoke a load of balls and was shown up for doing so. Eventually the truth came out and the right decision was made but that is why we have a democratic country that many want to come and live in. Freedom to express your view and opinions even if, like in our case there are some that lose out by you voicing an opinion.

No! The CUTRESS FAMILLY dint oppose the stadium. only 1 or two of them did.
R.E the wickes point: How can you compare the Archer/Bellotii situation to this? This is a parish councillor talking rubbish, but expressing her opinion whicg unfortunatley she has a right to do. These people are not on the day to day runing of the club like Belloti/Archer were.
Why boycott forfars when you have admitted its not the company who are opposed? (before you ask im not sure the focus/wickes boycott acieved alot).
