Big call from the ref
Ends the game as an even competition after less than 2 minutes.
I'm sure he was technically right but as a football fan you have to wonder whether sometimes judgement and rule book aren't at odds to the disservice of the game
Haven't seen it but assuming it was a professional foul as stated, I would suggest the player's judgement and knowledge of the rules should be called into question, not the referee's. Why should the officials be berated because a player screwed up? And if he hadn't carded him, Sod's Law dictates that Taylor was bound to have made a significant positive contribution later on, leaving Forest justifiably aggrieved.
You can't pick and choose a punishment depending on what stage of the game it is.
I guess I am just reflecting that what used to be acceptable in terms of tackling is now deemed dangerous and the reason it is dangerous is because of fashions in kit (boots/pads) rather than any sudden change in human physiology. We are headed to a non-contact sport and I am not a fan I'm afraid.
May not apply in this case and it's probably just my age.............................
High, studs up, miles from the ball and if it had connected with a standing leg possibly a broken leg. Red every time.
