I have some fond memories of Withdean but there is absolutely nothing I'm gonna miss about it as I settle into my seat in the Amex

The big one for me is foot stamping at corners, a great relief for tension and a fantastic sound.

Also there has been some great banter first in the front of G block and latterly at the top of the family stand.

Will miss it quite a lot, actually. It's become part of life, getting up on a matchday morning to check the weather, working out whether to pack wet weather gear or the suntan lotion; the stroll down the lane from Preston Park station to the ground; the smell of the trees; the fantastic football we've been treated to on a pretty good pitch. I will miss it. But I can't wait to get to Falmer! :falmer:

Ease of getting there from London, completely lost at the new place unfortunately !

But apart from that absolutely nothing at all.

You've got to feel for those poor sods in g block, Sitting there this season with nothing to moan about.

I will miss with dean in as much as the clubs and fans have generally made the best they can. Whoever would have thought we would have the thriving family section we do have. A few years ago I was falling out of love with football but my eldest started to come to games, got hooked and he has really inspired me again. So the start of what I hope will be a lifelong shared interest and passion with my boys for the Albion is something I will be eternally grateful for

It is the ground my kids first saw the Albion, I got my dad back into watching the Albion (he flirted with watching Wimbledon in their Premiership days - traitor!), even my wife started coming along after listening to them for years on Radio Sussex/SCR. For all of that I will always be grateful to the place (that and watching my brother come last in the 1500 metres at his school sports day 35 years ago!). I hadn't thought about the stamping at corners at Falmer, I wonder what the first effort at the Amex will sound like?! Will also miss the dodgy burgers and the changing of the seasons in the woods. I was also wondering how that bloke in the disabled buggy will participate in the first pitch invasion at Falmer?

Can't wait for August though!!

more like you've got to feel for those poor sods who sit in G block that have to listen to the moaning and the constant 'don't brick it dick (dicker)' and 'you can't play football tommy' and 'oh for f*** sake ankergren kick it' and 'ignore gus, get rid of it!!!' f*** me i hope they are not WSU next season.

One thing about the Withdean that I will miss quite a bit is the view. Might sound silly, but the South Stand is a great view of a football pitch (obviously further back) - nicely tiered so you get a bit of a height on the players, close enough to the pitch that you can hear the players and feel involved. I'm worred that at the Amex it will either be close, but too low in WSL, or very high up and distant in WSU.

I like being able to walk along the running track at the end of the game, and get really close to the dugouts.

Will miss having a pint in The Station then nipping down to the ground 15 mins before kick-off - probably not as easy to do at Falmer.

Under your skin.
As part of the new generation of fans (no, not a JCL :tantrum:) I don't have any memory of Brighton playing anywhere apart from Withdean. Don't get me wrong, I went to The Goldstone and I went to "home" games at Gillingham, but I have no memory of them.

I've seen some bloody good times at Withdean. I've met some of my best mates at Withdean. When I was eight I chose a Brighton season ticket over a Chelsea one. Do I regret it? Nope, obviously there have been moments when I've questioned if I'd made the right choice.

Sitting in the south stand, freezing cold and watching us get knocked out of the JPT knowing full well I could be sitting at Stamford bridge watching European football.

But at the end of the day I made the right choice. I've seen some bloody brilliant moments at Withdean.

  • 4 Promotions
  • Beating Man City
  • Staying up on the last day
  • Amazing comebacks

Withdean has been my footballing home. The Amex is going to be so much better but I'll miss Withdean. Gotta lot of memories from there

Being only 20, Withdean is the only place I know as Albion's home. 11 years I have been going, and I have witnessed some of the greatest moments of my life at that little athletics track, its gonna hold great memories for me in years to come. The fact is, people may hate it, and call it all names under the sun, but it should be said that without Withdean we would'nt be where we are today, and that can only be a good thing..

Could not agree more. The mould and rust is eating away, and when the foot stamping starts we wait, we just wait...................

One more thing I will miss in a strange way is, the baguette van which never has baguettes only long rolls. They are plain and simple but Withdean nutritious
