OMG I was there when they recorded the "Live & dangerous" album !!
One of the all time great classic live albums.
Along with Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allmans live at the Fillmore and Bob Seger live.
They truly don't make 'em like that any more

I saw Phil Lynott removed from the stage at the Playboy Club in San Antonio Ibiza after he had conned his way onto the stage claiming to be a musician. He was removed after one number as he was completely out of his head :lolol:

This was about 1974

One thing about Lizzy as they never got slated by the punk movement, why ? Because they were the first band to have a punk band as a support on their tours, the first being none other than the Boomtown Rats.

Bob Seger....why do so few speak of him?

f***ing HELL - I've got that Album

Alvin Lee was AWESOME in his prime, that Woodstock performance was amazing

I saw Ten Years After a couple of years ago at The Brook in Southampton. No Alvin Lee (Joe Gooch was excellent though) but all the others were there. Leo Lyons was 66 years old and was STILL playing the Bass exactly as he did in 1969!

Fantastic

"Stupidity" by Dr Feelgood - when R'n'B didn't mean Beyonce and her ilk.

You will just have to imagine the cover. Never saw the band live but have been fortunate enough to see Wilko Johnson a few times - no one plays guitar quite like him (well, apart from Mick Green I guess).

One of the benefits of where I work is that I get to choose the music that's played in the shop. Officially, it's supposed to be a mix of current chart titles, but today we've had:

Saw them live a few times in the late 70s

Wilko Johnson was an amazing guitarist and that line-up was superb.

The gig at The Portsmouth Guildhall in 1977 I think is one of the best I have ever been to

Sorry you didn't see them, great band, especially at the beginning. I saw them at The Greyhound in Richmond, just before the first LP got released. I wanted to see them particularly, to feel what it 'might' have been like to see a band like The Yardbirds in a smokey local.
Amazing! I got as much as I bargained for and maybe more! And Wilko zipped around like a demon, possessed, like a wind-up-toy on speed. It was VERY smokey, mixed with steaming sweat! The place was packed to the gills, and they were manic - they did it right!

Fantastic

I was lucky to see TYA at Alexander Palace ('The Ally Pally', site of 24hour technicolor dream and some other UFO functions), in 1974. They rocked hard! Alvin Lee ripped, shredded, and the sound was like a freakin' hurricane - enough to sweep back your hair and your ears!

Then - about three years ago, I got to see TYA on a revival tour, in Anaheim, California. Even as old geezers, they rocked! Lee was so familiar with his solos, he'd be doing some astounding runs..... and occasionally be adjusting his amp, while still playing like a demon!! The bloke could play solos of a million notes, in his sleep I reckon.

Maybe that is why he doesn't play with TYA any more - it's no challenge for him, or he was bored, going through the motions etc.

Still, he really was amazing to watch at any time in his career.

I still think it's preferable to all that modern dance crap (sorry Cian).

Yesterday's hot pick was Top Gear Anthems, featuring Meat Loaf, Boston, Allman Brothers, Whitesnake, Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steppenwold et al.
