OK I have read two thirds of this and I will give my two pence worth. I will be voting Labour for the following reasons. I lived in a town that was devastated with the last Conservative government. The local industry has been slowly dissolved because of their power at the time. The first was The Dover Engineering Company. OK the they made drain and manhole covers, but they relocated to China literally overnight. The coal pits were the second to go. Kent had three working mines, which were producing coal suitable for power stations which are still going, ad we now import the coal to fire them.
There was also the Ferry strike, during Thatchers reign. This just made another set of families split form one another, and European labour working on British ships.
The images of striking and "scabbing" families at war with one another has scarred me for possibly the rest of my life, and for that reason I could never vote Tory.
On that point off to bed in a mo and listening to the marvellous new Slash album.
So none of it had anything to do with the previous government and the unions?
