Apple will at last unveil a touch-screen iPod with a 3.5-inch display at its media event Wednesday,

The new iPod will feature similar dimensions to Apple's iPhone with which it will share the same display, but sources except the iPod to continue to sport a hard drive in place of Flash memory. Solid state media commands a roughly 15-fold price premium per gigabyte over a 1.8-inch hard drive, which is now available in substantial quantities at capacities up to 120GB.

The rumormill has been ripe with other feature speculation surrounding the new iPod, some more far-fetched than others. While it is possible the new iPod will be the first to pack some sort of wireless capability, suggestions of digital radio playback should be taken with a grain of salt.

Pah, I just got a brand new 80Gigger, the new one will have to wait a few months!!

Of course, there will be someone on here ( we know who) who will be able to tell us what is wrong with the new one, screen quallity, battery, DRMs, compatibitly, reliablity, etc later on, so then we can make an informed decision not to buy it or not.

YES! SWEET! Looks just like the iPhone, but it's an iPod! Awesome. iPod touch. This is why I came here, folks!

Looks the same, same size screen, thinner--8mm thin. Awesome. Steve says: one of the 7 wonders of the world. Multitouch interface...

So, it's exactly what we wanted: an iPhone with no phone. Lots of empty space on the screen for new icons. There's more: It has an antenna! WiFi! 802.11 b/g. Nice!

Full Google and Yahoo search built-in. So, the iPod touch has video, music, photo, internet with WiFi...and...YouTube, just like iPhone. Wow!

You seem to have found an extra '0' there. Coming in at only 8gb/16gb, the Touch doesn't have too much appeal for me.

The new Nano looks funky though.

I was cutting bits and pieces from a press release, your right the touch ain't to good the classic is just a BIG iPod video

You can use the iPod touch as a PDA, as it has Contacts , Calendar, etc.

You can bet that 3rd Party Apps will start appearing for all sorts of specific business uses.
