For all those that are at Uni / went....

Don't know, really don't care. Southampton Solent rarely get good acts in. Think it was sub-focus doing a DJ set for freshers this year, and before that not much to brag about.

Unfortunately its guaranteed every year that "local celeb" Bradley from S Club always turns up either with some of his old group or does a DJ set by himself :nono:

Seriously, I never met anybody who went to University until I was 17. Teachers included. It just was a different world back in the sixties. It was an eye opener. They had books and things, like gramophones.

Double bill of of the Who and the Cream. I gave it a miss as I had never heard of either band and it cost 2/6d. Half a crown was too much on a tanner a week pocket money.

I think it cost 9d to see the Albion and 3d transfer to the stand behind the goals under cover. How many 9ds in a nicker £ ?

At Winchester we had Mr Hudson a couple of years back when he had his 1 hit and Tinie Tempah the year before who turned up an hour late, played 2 songs and buggered off.

Crikey, Queen's College Oxford 1972: Roy Wood's Wizard, Roy Harper.

Seen at Oxford Town Hall back in the day: Led Zep, Free, Deep Purple Fairport (twice) among others.

As a nipper, passed up the Beatles play at the Slough Adelphi but more than made up for it by my first live gig: Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch. Alongside the lovely, fragrant Mary Pemberton.

I think we had:
Dan Mills (turned up about 3 hours late and was rubbish)
Bodyrockers (they were quite good although they had two songs that sounded exactly the same)
Bjorn Again (ABBA tribute who were surprisingly good)
Bradley from S Club 7

Had Mr Hudson in my freshers two years ago. The fact that his hit song "Supernova" had been played by the DJ twice before he came out made it seem irrelevant when he then went straight into said song.

We had a band called The Stone Roses and Jesus Jones play the same week. I called it wrong and went to Jesus Jones. The former became rather popular. A big regret.

My daughter (an albion fan) is at Durham. Van Mildert. She got some strange looks supporting the albion in her college bar for the Newcastle game.

I'm on Queen's campus in Stockton, so when I went to a local bar, everyone there was cheering on the Albion. They hate the Geordies with a passion.

When it came to the Liverpool game though, well, that's another story.

Back in the Southampton 'Institute' days of the 90's I recall seeing Rozalla (at the Bournmouth BIC) and Sub Sub Featuring Melanie Williams in some rugby field north of the M27. Rozalla left the stage part way through her third song after a bottle thrown from the dance floor just missed her head...

I had Supergrass.

The drummer then proceeded to nail my (female) housemate in the beer garden of the student union

Chichester Unis winter ball included Same Difference (Season 4 Xfactor) and the summer ball line up includes S Club 3. Not sure about any line ups from previous years

Our Summer Ball line up has just been announced and we have:

Noah and the Whale
The Saturdays
Sub Focus

Seems damn good to be. But I don't know in comparison to others. What are other students best gigs from today or years gone by?

My graduation ball in Summer '10 was a great night but a tremendous waste of money. £35 for entry, nothing more. Kiosks selling food and beer and a pretty pointless solitary fairground ride with a massive queue met us on the other side. Plan B played in the upstairs club, an area nowhere near big enough to fit in all who had purchased tickets. It was good to have a final hoorah with everyone but my god were we short changed. Doing an MA now at a different University, so hopefully the events for that won't be quite as shit.
