I don't get smoking. Don't understand the point. And don't get why a professional sportsman would do it.

Plenty of subs during the Barry Lloyd era would have suffered the effects of passive smoking. No chance of the subs escaping the smoky haze around Bazza as his (non) use of substitutes was legendary. He once loaned a lad from Man-Utd called Paul McGuinness, who spent FIVE games on the bench without getting near the pitch.

His lungs were probably in a state when he returned to Old Trafford....

How stupid are these people? They are athletes - or so you'd like to think - with a very short career span. Tho having said that, there were some telly shots t'other day of Olympic Village idiots have a crafty smoke on their balconies also.
Matter of choice and your not in a position to call them stupid.

Scorates and Cruyff were absolute chainers apparently. I think they were pretty good footballers too...

Yes Socrates who died last year was a heavy smoker, also a regular beer drinker and a medically qualified Doctor but he was still a superb midfielder.

Andy Carroll smokes

No he doesn't. He Smiiiiiiirks Tabs leek marra!

ps There seems to have been a sizable proportion of really GREAT footballers who smoke. Maybe we should view getting the Development Squad on the Bensons as a priority?

Ex Croatian international midfielder Robert Prosinecki was a massive chain smoker. When he was at Portsmouth I served him loads of cigarettes at the 'Alldays' shop I used to work in part time when I was at school.

Remember being very excited about serving him but massively confused that such a good player could smoke so much. He was a heck of a player.

I once saw Dennee Mundee smoking outside the team bus after Mansfield away in the late nineties. We really were shit 15/20 years ago.
