Football shirts on holiday

I remember wearing my old Brighton shirt (when the stripes were a lighter blue) around the same time Argentina were playing Australia.. I got some bad looks.

If you are going to the Costas (Spain not Liz's), Ayia Napa or Shagaluf then maybe as it might help you find similarly minded people...if you are going back-packing around South America and want to just merge into the scenery and not attract attention, adverse or otherwise, then probably not...as I prefer the latter it will be a resounding no.

I'd say thanks to me Brighton are now a recognised club by many people across Europe. Granted because I work doing sports related things it's easier but still.

I mostly go to warm / hot climates for my holidays so wearing a polyesta / nylon mix is not very cool in every respect.

I can only imagine you've not worn one when the temperature is up then? Have you ever noticed the 22 fellas running round the pitch for 90 minutes, they ain't wearing cotton are they? I find footie shirts very cool to wear (temperature wise, ) in hot weather, after all, they are designed to be worn during constant periods of exercise, when it is possible you might get a tad hot.

Complete tosh - most sportsmen / women now where "skins" under their team shirts and these are designed for either cool or warmth - polyesta is naff in heat.

Hideous. The only time I have ever taken a football shirt on holiday with me is to give it away.

I tend not to holiday in places that attracts football shirts, but occasionally have done so. Looks awful. I see the whole point of a holiday being escaping England (if one goes beyond the realms). I don't understand why one would want to.

Christ there is some snobby bollocks on here.

I'll admit to rolling the eyes at the umpteenth Chelsea or manure shirt abroad. But if I see a chap walk past in a Bury shirt, then I'll happily give a nod or if he's next to me at a bar will strike up a convo on how their season has gone. What, are we supposed to HIDE our "ghastly" football allegiences when abroad, after wearing it on our sleeves all season ?

I'm not going to storm around chanting "albioooooon" all afternoon like some halfwit, but neither am I some kind of chavved-up Sun reading berk on a lager mission for daring to have a loose-fitting retro Albion shirt on when I venture to the beach in Tunisia this summer (assuming I'm not bombed to f*** by a French Typhoon with a dodgy satnav).

I was hoping to reel in Phil, but he is presumably tucking in one of his many shirts.

I wore a Sandtex shirt in Malawi and ended up giving it to a a kid who made me a little wood carving. There is a Seagulls supporters group in Southern Africa, hopefully.

Probably because we have been tinpot for so long, I do enjoy seeing a 'small club' shirt half way across the globe. Disappointing to see one of the big four/five/six. I seem to remember a Man Utd shirt making an appearance on a Bruce Parry show. Poor little tribesman didn't know any better.

I had a load of drinks bought for me in some bar in Magaluf by some Swindon fans who were sorry for our relegation the other year! Seemed decent people tbf.

Must say I only went out wearing a replica shirt because we went out at like 2 in the afternoon and by night time we were all mortal and I couldn't be arsed to go and change it. I probably looked like right one, wearing a Football shirt on a night out. f*** it.

Surely it’s like any other means of advertising or marketing. If wearing it results in somebody asking questions about BHAFC, which it often does in foreign parts, then that must be a result as someone who previously knew nothing about the mighty Seagulls is now a little better informed.

And I must remind myself not to even think about popping on a footie shirt in 40˚ on holiday now that you've warned me I'll get hot. Oh, wait, I never did before, in fact I felt nice and comfy in it, maybe I just don't feel the heat.

Yup, that's me, footie shirt tucked in, rolled up trouser legs and a hankie on my head in Banalmadina! Or better still when I get my mum to iron creases into my jeans, looks well smart with a 2005 home shirt tucked in and a fancy pants bobble hat.:albion1:

Mind you, I did wear an Albion top to the Olympic Stadium in Rome in 1991 I think. It caused a lot of interest, and lots of offers to swop. Eventually I caved in and swopped with a cute Italian girl. I have a rather nice photo of her in the Tesco top as well. I still have the shirt she gave me in the loft, complete with fag burn.

see , I'm more the other way round - I'd take an England top for definite (not wear it the whole holiday mind you)
