Not sure how realistic my start to the season is but .........

View attachment 121372

Spent yesterday messing around with this and decided anything lower than Level 8 is not pictorial because:

1) It doesn't do any of the cups that the clubs should be doing
2) The teams don't have squads so any player you bring in the database is better than any other players in the division.
3) Therefore it's too easy

Starting a new thread with a challenge for anyone interested.

Still enjoying my Eastbourne save from start of the iteration. 1st, 1st, 2nd, 4th finishes (lost in playoffs 0-1 over two legs to Bristol Rovers) mean I'm repeating in same league for the first time (div1) and it's going really well. Finally scoring goals as been tough forever signing strikers thus my positive 4-1-4-1 (roughly) kind of formation with solid centre mids and attacking wide players. Brighton links in Jenks and Everitt. Some amazing regens signed on frees this preseason have shot me to the top of the league.
We expanded Priory lane at vast cost and a massive loan after 1st season due to league requirements, then moved to Crawley the season after again for league requirements! The club then announced it wants to move back to Eastbourne but can't find a suitable site or option!!
For Brighton A.I. meanwhile, they went down in 18th, then won Championship comfortably, then shockingly came 6th in EPL with Declan Rice, Meunier, Loader from Reading scoring goals thirs overall season and got to the SEMI FINAL of the Euro Cup as the A.I. in their 4th of the game while finishing 9th in EPL!!!

I thus thought last night that it's time for the Brighton save with newest official update and try to beat that :albion2:

I got Spurs away, Manure home, villa away, Man City home, Chelsea away, Leicester home to kick off first season

Decided on a 5, 2, 2, 1 formation that's narrow and I'd call more a 3, 4, 3 with balanced settings trying to control possesion.

Couldn't sign any vaguely established players including some from Championship or from rather poor Italian clubs despite teams accepting deals as the young non-Internationals for solid yet non-spectacular countries like Denmark weren't interested in even discussing deals.

Half the 18th highest wages in league are tied up in expensive flops out on loan or injured for the season making us rock bottom effectively.

Most of the dressing room hates me and has no respect because of my zero experience.

The staff at the club are shockingly abysmal.

Was super worried my attempt to beat the A.I.'s triumph would end within 6 league games yet managed a 0-0 at 'The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium' so feeling a bit more positive............ how have your games with the latest official update gone? Not the March one but the April one. And how have Brighton done with the A.I.?

Cheers :albion2:

Well lockdown has done it so I’ve managed to do 30 seasons on FM Touch and it then decided to ‘retire me’ at 68. I got a message of congratulations then all I can hit is is ‘relinquish’ button - not happy only 25 titles, 23 domestic cups and 37 trophies and I had just rebuilt my team for the 4th time (some great wonder kids about to blossom!). May have to start again as I have unlocked ‘golden generation’ by doing something

I have 2019 and 2020, I am not a fan of starting in the Premier League, so for 2019 I started with Torquay and 2020 I have started at Notts County.

In the 2019 game I ended up leaving Torquay in league 2 as Villa offered me a job to get them out of the Championship, got them up but it is bloody impossible to make the step up from Championship to Prem.

Notts County I am just getting to xmas in first season, top of the league, but the board are tossers and keep getting upset with me every time I lose a game, or I am not top. Gits.

It is such an addictive game.

Back to back Champions for Notts County and now in League 1, Brighton relegated in first season, but in the playoffs at the moment. Just waiting to finish the season off. Will depend if I stick with County or look for bigger fish elsewhere.

One of the most bizarre players I've ever got in a youth intake. An Albanian called Albion. Screenshot 2020-05-01 at 23.26.15.png

In this world, we've won five European trophies in three seasons, the Conference League, Europa League then Champions League, along with two Super Cups. It took a little while but this team is amazing. Sebastiano Esposito is now the club record goalscorer at the age of 24 which is pretty impressive- I haven't had a striker have a season like he did in our quadruple-winning season just gone on many an FM, 45 goals in one season. Nuts.

There's still a little bit of the old Albion here, albeit not much. Tony is still at the helm, I brought Bruno back onto the coaching staff after his ill-fated spell in charge of Shrewsbury and Dunky is on the coaching staff.

That determination is a massive turn-off but I'm going to give him a fair crack of the whip considering he is so aptly named.

I havent played FM 20 but all of the previous versions. If you put a player with 15-20 determination (and preferably one with good personality since that is an indicator of good numbers in the hidden attributes that are very easily to influence) to be tutoring this guy, his determination should very rapidly rise to the same level as his tutor within 6 months or so.

They've taken out the one-on-one mentoring now and you add players to mentoring groups which require them to be in the first team I believe. Will have to see what he's like when he turns pro unfortunately as I don't want to risk upsetting the very delicate hierarchy/harmony within the current first team!

Brighton save was getting a bit dull so I jacked it in and went to Leverkusen, taking Bruno with me.

Albion replaced me with my coach Patrice Evra on an interim basis until the end of the season, then paid out £20 million compo to get Klopp from Liverpool after finishing second in the league to them :lolol: He's on £155k a week...

Nope. The two league titles to date have been won by Man Utd (19/20) and Arsenal (20/21). Liverpool won the 20/21 Champions League, but that's their lot so far.

19/20 saw Sheffield United, Villa and Palace go down, and Forest, Huddersfield and Dirty Leeds come up. 20/21 saw Newcastle, Huddersfield and Forest go down, and West Brom, Villa and Cardiff come up.

He got 18 in 35 for Spurs in 19/20, then sodded off to PSG for £114 million.

See above as an example, a few others of note were Frenkie de Jong to Liverpool for £108m, Kai Havertz from Leverkusen to Barca for £91m and Lautaro Martinez from Inter to Atletico for £88m

Duffy is on loan at Sheff Utd in the Championship, Locadia, Tau, Alzate, Mlakar, Baluta and Gyokeres are all on loan in various places. Dunk and Andone left as mentioned before, Maupay is at Schalke, Mooy and Stephens are in the Championship with Huddersfield and Murray is retired.

I kept Billy Reid as my assistant when I dumped GPott out of a job before he'd started, I think Ben Roberts, Casper Ankergren, Bruno and Bjorn Hamberg are still there too

Has Spence replaced Tony Bloom?

Had no clue who Michael Fabricant is but googled him now... surely the question should be why Michael Fabricant looks like Michael Fabricant?
