Our first goal : Calderon and Murray in the box
Second goal : foul throw by Painter

Gus was right, the ref was rubbish

If you look at the you tube video of the penalty being taken there appearred to be more players of both sides in the box than outside.

I was told by an ex prem ref that the FL have told refs to ignore foul throws in the traditional sense and only blow if they are blatant like 1 handed in order to keep the game flowing.

You are right however the ref was absolute rubbish.

Couldn't believe that 'we are going up' chant. As if they're just waiting for it to be a formality. They're still in the playoff spots for christs sake!

Their arrogance bothers me more by the week

I don't see anything wrong with them chanting that at all. They had just beaten a local promotion rival and are 2nd if they win games in hand. I wouldn't be surprised if we had sung that in similar circumstances.

If that bothers you id say try and find some intersting distractions in your life. We don't need to worry about what anybody else is doing or saying.

The ball was clearly over the line. Really poor back pass.
It was more that the goalie was displaced, the defender wouldn't have expected him to be all the way over the other side of the goal mouth.

I think it was both. To me, it looked like the defender was trying to curl the ball across the goal, but miss-hit it leading to a straighter pass. I understand the reason for thekeeper going wide, I've seen Casper do it, as other posters have pointed out, if the pas is directed to the side of the goal and the keeper misses it/it bobbles it goes but for a corner, but it also stretches play a bit, and the defender has to hit it harder so less of a chance of the attacker chasing it down before it gets to the keeper etc. But in that situation, when there was such pressure on the defence, the keeper should have made himself more available.

I don't think the whole ball would have been over the whole line but the angle was poor.

I didn't think it had crossed until the last replay. I'm sure it did now.

Our first goal : Calderon and Murray in the box

Generally refs are only order retakes of the penalty if the infringing team benefits from the infringement (barring extreme cases). We scored straight away, no rebounds so no benefit from them being there.

Havent watched it yet as I have recorded it but I would bet that the fool Claridge didnt have a good word to say about us. Radio Sussex said that Ray Wilkins said in an interview that what Claridge said about us not being able to play our type of football in The Championship is, in his opinion, a load of tosh

hope our defenders watch that Swansea og. :)

Wonder if we will get more than the obligatory 30 seconds or so of highlights anytime before the end of the season? Rhetorical question really because we play SCC next month. D'oh!

not a mention of Muzza's goal which I thought was one of the better ones this season and he will grace the championship well with goals like that

As I understand, every team gets one featured game a year and the rest just get goal highlights. I can't remember who against but we've already had our featured game, might have been Bournemouth as the cameras were already there.

If uit's divided that evenly wouldn't it have to be at last two featured games a year? I'm pretty sure that Southampton have had a few featured games this year already though.

You mean ... if we score, the goal stands; if the goalkeeper saves it, we get another go? How is that fair, if it's our players who are encroaching (as it was, yesterday)?

That might be the case, but it's likely to be each televised game so the next one will be Colchester.

I had a few beers last night and admit that was a bit of an overreaction. They look good for 2nd at the moment and that was a huge result for them yesterday... unfortunately for Bournemouth I think they may have blown 2nd place now. Games in hand aside though, I think Saints still have a lot of work to do, and they would be wise not to ignore Huddersfield's consistency or Peterborough's run of their own.

As for us yeah, we just need to worry about ourselves for now. :)
