I went to a football match in Peru- good fun! The teams left the pitch at half time under a tunnel made of riot shields (held by riot police) as people threw stuff at them- looked like it was just the norm.

Went to the semi final of the cup in Cyprus in 2003 (I think), Anorthosis v APOEL. We were with the APOEL fans in the away end. The fans worked out they could prise the ceramic tiles for the wall in the toilets, so then used them as a sort of cross between a frisbee and a ninja throwing star, they were luzzing them at the oppo goalie and the players, there were dozens of them embedded end on in the grass. The players just picked them out of the ground and slung them off the pitch. The police also had to make a sort of igloo out of riot shields whenever Anorthosis had a corner near us so the player could be protected from The barrage of tiles, lighters, coins, bits of concrete, whatever they could find. To luzz at the players.

not as bad as some things quoted here but I once went to Lazio v Inter and some Lazio fan decided to 'luzz' the contents of his pockets, lighter, coins, chocolate bar etc at an opponent taking a corner, the old bill standing about 10 foot away simply watched without batting an eyelid
