Why would clubs wait to be asked to check, I would have thought this should have been carried out already.

Part of the issue at Grenfell was the fire spreading high above the reach of the firemens hoses and ladders. At least that wouldn't be the case at Amex.

Pretty sure this was checked and cleared a few days after the fire.. And I thought the Daily Mail were late to "report" this when they said it last week...
