My Father who is in his 80s and lives in Patcham normally gets a lift. However, tomorrow he has to get a bus. Are there any that stop in say Carden Avenue so he doesnt have to go to Mill Road. Thanks for the help.

Being 80 year old he possibly has a bus pass or Can use his ticket to catch the 5 or 5A to the town possibly Churchchill Sq and then change to a 25 or 29. I used the H or S bus once and it was full before it got to Withdean and didn't stop after then until reaching Falmer.

Patcham isn't that well served for the stadium.

It does sound like two buses - and a bit of a palaver. The 5 / 5A to St Peter's Church, then the 28 / 29 to Falmer, but that's about eight miles in total. Not good.

... Or the 25. :)

I've got the 26 and the 5B from Asda Hollingbury before, they go as far as the Hikers Rest, so might still be a bit too much of a walk from there? If not the Ladies Mile and Wilmington pub run coaches that he could probably get on.

If he gets to the ladies mile early enough he could ask if they have any space on their bus, failing that the Longman also run a bus.

The name gives it away
I am happy to give him a lift if he doesn't mind getting to the ground about 1:45. I live in Mile Oak so can pick him up about 1:20 or so. I park in the bridge car park so he would need to be ok walking from there to the ground.

Happy to drop him home again afterwards if that helps.

Let me know if you would like me to help.

First sensible answer i've seen, considering the weather conditions and the gentleman's age.
