was listening to radio 1 a fair bit last weekend, and it seems that they've basically started sucking the foo fighters off........its ridiculous, they've made them out to be pretty much the best band EVER, and pretty much constantly banged on about them ALL weekend (and monday)..........fucks sake, they're not THAT good are they?

lessons learned:
1. Don't listen to Radio 1

I liked Big Me and For All the Cows and most of that first album and will give nods to Monkey Wrench but I have NO idea why people still like them now, it's all got a bit boring innit?

It might be that Radio 1 were the promoters for the Wembley gigs at the weekend and were building up to broadcasting Saturday's gig on Monday night.

This week they'll be sucking Coldplay off.

You don't honestly expect them to not advertise the things they have going on do you?

Its confusing isn't it - I mean I think they are pretty good, I've got a few of the albums (some of their songs I reckon are brilliant) but I can't understand why Radio1 has gone so ga-ga about them.

Moyles and Whiley have literally not stopped banging on about them for a couple of weeks now and it's getting ridiculous.

It probably keeps the majority happy though. I bet they've done focus groups about this.

Moyles is a fat, overpaid, useless, bandwagon jumping twat. Dave Ghrol however is not only very talented he always comes across and an extreely down to earth ond decent bloke. Wannabes like Johnny Burrell and Pete Dochety could learn a thing or ten from him.

What I just don't get is that the bloke is alleged to earn over 500k (of license payers' money) a year and yet nobody seems to like him.
At has been said before, but anyone over the age of 25 really isn't part of Moyles' target audience.

I started a thread about how piss poor the Foo's had become some time ago and got shot down all over the shop so I'm glad to see people are now coming round to the idea.

I like Dave Grohl and a lot of their earlier stuff but it is just so boring now. A kind of slightly less Summery Red hot Chilli Peppers (who are also entirely shit).

And yes Radio 1's coverage is sickening.

You say that but in the mornings I listen to XFM and Alex Zane who is probably younger than Moyles and in fact is also from Leeds. The big difference is that Zane is not only funny and amusing but he's actually plays a fair bit of music.

Moyles gets away with it because outside of London there's not such a great deal of choice for FM broadcasts.

this is almost entirely because Ghrol used to be in Nirvana, which many think where the best thing since the invention of the guitar, when i fact they where rather overrated too.

I would say that I prefer the Foos to Nirvana too, I never really got the Grunge thing going and am also inclined to think it was over hyped. I quite like the Foos but prefer the likes of Green Day and Feeder but we all have different tatses.

First 3 albums: fantastic... saw them at Brixton academy just after the release of "There is nothing left to lose"

Ever since then they've gone horrendously downhill.
