He reminds me of Benny from the Bronx.

He’ll turn up on platform 1 and gun down the PL when we least expect it yet, you’ll see.

Florin’s way.

I do not understand what all the fuss is about. He is an Albion player,he is contracted until the end of next season and the transfer window is closed.

We might as well play him if fit,if only to put him in the shop window.Maybe he has no future at the club.Who knows?

For that goal against Palace he’s an absolute legend. Still wayyyy in credit for me.

That goal for me showed his desire. It was a nothing ball on the stroke of half time which he busted a gut to get to. The icing on the cake was making Tompkins look like an oil rig and cupping his ears at the palace fans. But the pace, desire and quality he showed there wasn’t a fluke. He’s a good player and we need all the competition we can get up front at the moment.

He’s the missing nasty irritant little shithouse I honestly think we are missing.

He’s a natural finisher and works hard.

My only concern is him and Maupay will try to out shithouse each other if they are both playing.

Imagine the return and scoring the winner against palace

I’ve always liked him

Great post and my feelings exactly. A sort of Romanian Diego Costa.

Very happy for Andone to be given a fresh chance. Will be fascinating to see how that pans out.

Some strange revisionism going on in this thread though. “Best striker at the club”, “Better finisher than Maupay”, etc.

The lad has scored FOUR goals in 26 Albion appearances to date

Yes. BUT one of them was that absolute belter against Palace. That’s worth 10 goals easily, probably more.

This thread is laughable apart from Palace he’s scored two against relegated Huddersfield and one against Watford.

I would be interested to see however if scores a few more in a side creating more chances and I guess that’s the challenge for him.

I make it 6 when you include the cup run in 2019. He certainly had a knack of scoring important goals anyway. And it’d be interesting to see how he did playing in a team that creates as many chances as we do now, as opposed to living off scraps in his one previous season.

Duffy had 2 red cards in a week before joining us and turned out fine. Andone had two shockers that I remember and was then shipped out. If he comes back with a good attitude to start again, he could be as much of an asset as Duffy was, or if he has a sh*t one he can train on his own in the cold. Ball is in his court.

I think some of the quotes when he left for Turkey were fairly general, then added to to make a story that was certainly there but minor seem more explosive and specific. Nothing was personal.

He could be a similar personality to Knockhaert and a bit all or nothing. Not a dreadful thing if managed well. Fingers crossed he comes in 100% committed and with a point to prove. Worst case he pisses someone off and is suddenly contributing nothing again. Even if he wanted to leave (which not sure he does now) it would be in his best interest to attract suiters and a bidding war.

944 minutes played.
9 starts.
4 goals from 20 shots

Not exactly 4 from 26 now is it?

Yer he's wrong on this one.

Based on what?

I’d heard similar more based on an over-zealous approach in training.

To counter it, Caicedo in the programme highlighted Andone as someone who is helping him settle in....

236 MPG.

Maupay is currently on 258.

If we can extrapolate Andone’s historic record to this season, then if he had played instead of Maupay he would have scored 1 more goal.

Useful, but hardly Earth-shattering.

Not much difference. However, it's worth considering that all but 2 of Andone's appearances were for Albion in the 18/19 season, when we didn't create nearly as many goal-scoring opportunities as we have done this season and last. The following stats for xG scored in open play highlight this:

18/19: 20.22
19/20: 35.22
20/21: 24.96 (extrapolates to 39.52 over 38 games)

Good point, well made. It implies that Andone would do rather better than his historic stats would suggest.
