[Albion] Florin Andone joins Cadiz on one season loan

We had 7 strikers on the books so we needed to get rid of at least 3.

Welbeck and Maupay will start all games when fit.
Connolly and Zeqiri are young prospects for development.
The other 3 either need to be good enough now or be got rid of.

Whilst I would have loved Andone to be the one, Potter's comments were clear that he wouldn't be getting enough minutes here to be good enough quickly enough.
Pragmatically he needed to be shipped out.

If I were a betting man, I think this means we will probably be starting with one 'striker' most of the season. (Although I did quite like that Welbeck wide left, Maupay wide right thing last season and think we may see that occasionally when both are fit)

I read somewhere there was a mandatory buy clause at the end of the loan. Similar to the Knockaert deal by the sound of it.

That would be another cracking deal for us if true!

I would have loved that to have gone in and really boosted his confidence.
It didn't but that was not bad luck. Just not a good finish.

I thought the lad snatched at the chance, and fell over to easily looking for a foul on the half way line…

After Andone was subbed on, Cadiz conceded two last minute goals and lost 2-3. I’m assuming it wasn’t his fault though.

He was garbage. Had the ball 12 times, lost it 7 and played a big part in Osasuna being able to get the ball. Should be mentioned he made a nice pass as well tbf. Should get better with more minutes though.

Even if we do have someone, like the Sima rumours, to get progress any new attacker will have to be better than what we have, and we are not going to go out and buy a striker who instantly fits that bill...... If they were better than Welbeck or Maupay and could start from week 1, theyre going to cost a fortune....... It will be a moneyball "potential" punt like Zeqiri that doesn't break the bank and we hope may progress us over time.... I'm not so sure we'll see better than Maupay or Welbeck this current season..... But one for the future.

Andone appears to be pretty done in Cadiz. Not on the bench this Friday and only 108 minutes so far. Went to a club with some of his teammates after a defeat, drinking, smoking and fighting to the early hours and since then he is not playing. Reportedly Cadiz are investigating if they can ship him down to Sporting Gijon in the second division as his agent has some ties with that club. Hopefully they dont have the option to send him back to Brighton.

From what I've seen of him playing (at the Amex) he does have a modicum of talent but he takes our no dickhead policy in both hands and straps a rocket to it.

I agree that Andone and Locadia should be ejected from our club like a squid shits some ink.

His contract runs until the summer of 2023. I'm guessing the club are double checking how much the "to buy" of the loan to buy agreement with Cadiz is stone clad at the moment.

He was on the bench vs Burnley. Not sure if being a non-playing sub counts towards his maximum 2 clubs in a season limit.
