I think he’ll do well for Milan or Ajax. Would have liked him with us obviously but if he might have upset the dressing room and been detrimental to 16+ players just to gain his slight edge in ability, it’s a no brainer to avoid him and keep a harmonious squad greater than the sum of it’s parts.

Yup. Apparently he had a gentleman’s agreement that he could leave in the last year of his contract for 1m euros, if a PL team came in for him.
