No been here a while, just have never worked out why some threads are marked as fixtures! Male logic involved there somewhere!?

In my ignorance, what does it mean when something is "fixtures"?
???

If something is marked as 'fixtures', it indicates that whatever has been posted or is being discussed has already been discussed or posted in another thread.

It dates back to NSC in the summer just after we'd been promoted under Micky Adams. It might seem hard to believe now but, so excited were many people about finding ourselves in the division that we're in now that barely a week went by without someone else coming along and asking when the new season's fixtures would be published and those exciting trips to Reading or Wycombe planned.

Now of course, it's impossible to ask when the new season's fixtures are out, due the actions of those cliquey bastards who so dominated NSC back then.

ringtones was the original, but obviously fixtures rolls off the tongue better. Kanchelskis is the new kid on the block.

History for Newbies
"Ringtones" was about 2 months before "fixtures" and first appeared on here in the May or June of 1999; about 3 months before Albion kicked off MA's second season in division 4 with Bobby Zamora newly acquired from Bristol Rovers.

Ringtones was partly my fault. I had a Nokia phone and found a site that enabled you to programme a ditty on-line and then download it to your phone. The guy behind me at work had a music degree so had no trouble putting GOSBTS onto this site. But after I'd done this, NSC was bombarded with people requesting how to do the same thing. And then the club site provided a ringtone of their own, and even more people wanted to do the same thing!

Fixtures happened about 2 months later - late June 1999 I think - when NSC got fed up of people asking when the following seasons fixtures were going to be published by the FA. Basically fixtures (& ringtones) means "how many more f***ing times is this question going to be asked on here? use the search button"

Obviously, if you wanted to find out what "Fixtures" means, you could have put "fixtures" in the search facility. :dunce:

Except obviously, you'd get about a million results. About as pointless as putting in "bhaexpress" and "wanker" I guess.

Basically the people who use the word int he context discussed here are utter CUN7S and think it is funny when in fact its just sad and pathetic that they feel superior by noticing someone has repeated something someone else has said and they need to get a life.

Someone had to do it, so I thought I might as well.

A search of fixtures generates 2798 results.
