Spent the best part of my youth on Southwick & Shoreham Arms, the Canal in Southwick, Partridge Green, Passies Pond, Southwater, Adur River.....dont fish anymore but something i'll get back into when I retire.

All I need is a lake or river opposite a cricket pitch whilst a game is going on....that'd be amazing!

It's not exactely a challenging spot catching mackrel! I catch them because I enjoy EATING them!

It's good to keep a few for the pot, but no point keeping more than you need.

Think his point was that it's not exactly sport catching Mackerel so what is the point in doing it if you're not going to eat them?

Could be the one's that are thrown back are undersize? The best way to fish for them is on a spinner or a float. That way you get a bit of sport plus a few for the pot!
