Rick Stein's Fish & Chips in Padstow is MAGNIFICENT

Bit far to go for lunch though

I shall be sampling them in two weeks now. Passed through Padstow a couple of times but never eaten in any of his places. This time I plan to do the lot! Glad the chippy is recommneded.

By the seaside in West Somerset
You can't get further from the sea than us and up here in the sunny midlands it is 4.80 for a large haddock or cod and 1.10 for a portion of chips. Alternatively you can get a mini fish and chps for 1.80.
The gaffer of my local chippie says prices will go through the roof soon because of potatoes rotting in the ground during this summer's floods - they are having to import more than ever

even though I am on the morbidly huge size, I can say hand on heart I have not had fish and chips for years!!!!!!

I had a sausage and chips at Gillingham and that was the first time I had had a "bad" dinner for yonks.

Its bloody annoying that you eat really sensibly, dont drink much and still dont lose any weight!

the one by wivelsfield station is wank

best in burgess hill is probably fishers, up by the station. never had a complaint about jupps though, and seeing as it is two minutes away then that is good enough for me
I've always been disappointed when I've been to Fishers or Jupps, I always get the feeling they're living off past reputations. Tim Lee is where it's at, for Fish & Chips and chinese

Fish and chips with mushy peas at English's in Brighton costs £29.85, if you want Dover sole. Plaice and chips is only £11.95.

And they have five stars for hygeine.

English's is the best restaurant in Brighton. FACT!

Have to say, that much like everything else in Lewes, South Street chippy is over rated and over priced :(

just finished my cod and chips experience, but found the fish had been sitting around too long, and the batter was a bit soggy.

chips were ok

The pier is horrible for Fish n' chips. Usually too much batter, overcooked and over priced. Avoid.

Hadn't eaten on their for years, so thought i'd treat missus and little one to a nice fish supper a couple of weeks back, was the worst i'd ever tried, absolutely disgusting, on top of that took 35 mins to get served.

Sorry my recommendation let you down.

I never go there at lunchtime, always in the evenings. The throughput of evening customers is high enough to ensure that nothing sits around for long. Indeed, if you want anything other than cod, they will only cook it to order.
