Nailed on it will be mostly players who were here last season. Gross will play. Solly if fit. Lallana will, Welbeck almost certainly.
Steele
Veltman Webster/JPVH Dunk Pervis
Caicedo Dahoud
March Lallana Welbeck Mitoma.
After Luton it's anyone's guess.
So where is he in your line up? A surprising number if people leaving Pascal out if their best 11.

This year will have to be different to last year and have more rotation from the start. If RDZ sticks too much to the same first 11, he is going to have a lot of talented and pissed off players on the bench, and pissed off players who aren’t playing tend to look at leaving. Even City have these problems and players they’d rather keep are going.

We won’t have - squad game/rotation - but clearly a few players who always get picked more than others …
Last year - Steele (in the end), Dunk, Gross, Mitoma, Caicedo, Estupinan, Mac Allister , Welbeck - although even then there was some resting in the run in.
This year ?
Overall Mitoma can be rested more. He looked gassed towards the end of the season. Keep him fresh and deadly

cannot see any new players being given the initial opportunity over the original squad their time will come but for Luton the team that achieved our first European place should start
Agreed. Possibly Lallana for Gilmour.

You’ve said Gross will play but didn’t name him in your line up below ! :lolol:

Steele (Verbruggen)

Veltman (Lamptey/Groß/Milner), Dunk (Webster), Julio (Van Hecke), Pervis (Lamptey/Julio/Milner)

Caicedo (Ayari/Gilmour), Dahoud (Milner/Groß)

March (Adingra/Buonanotte, Lallana (Enciso, Pedro, Groß), Mitoma (Enciso, Pedro, Adingra)

Welbeck (Ferguson, Pedro)

With a lot of rotation. But my starting XI for Luton is down as;

Steele

Veltman, Dunk, Julio, Perv

Caicedo, Dahood

March, Lallana, Mitoma

Welbeck

Subs: all of the above who aren’t starting plus Samuels, Peupion and few other young players.
Gross must play in midfield somewhere

It's a new season. It's par for the course for some fans to write Pascal off.

The only thing we can be sure of is that he will be seen as incredibly valuable by RDZ who will want him out on the pitch working his magic.

In other news, if Dunk hasn't resumed training yet, is he going to be match-fit in time for the Luton game?

I believe this could be our starting line up vs Luton:
Steele
Gross Veltman Dunk (if fit !) Estupinan
Caceido Dahoud
March Lallana Mitoma
Welbeck

However, if Caceido is sold then I think Gross will start in his position with Veltman switching to RB and either AW or JPvH in alongside Dunk.

Welbeck has had more game time in the US which suggests he will start over Ferguson.

I would add that I can see Pedro replacing Mitoma if Mitoma doesn’t improve his performances - this was Pedro’s position at Watford and enables us to have him and Welbeck / Ferguson in the starting line up with Mitoma becoming an impact sub.

Pep, Klopp pre last year and Arteta all CLEARLY have a first choice team and a group of players that are pretty much undroppable.

I reckon Steele will start Premier games and Verbruggen will play Cup games including Europa.
I agree with a lot on here suggesting we will go with tried and tested players for opening games so for Luton...
Steele
Pervis, Dunk (if fit), Webster, Velts
Gross, Gilmour
Mitoma, Lallana, March
Welbeck.
That leaves a huge array of talent on bench to bring on and change the game if needed.

We have Perv, Igor and Milner for LB, should be more than adequate. RB on the other hand...
Milner's played a bunch of games at right back, as has Gross, obvs.
We need specialist right back cover for Veltman though, especially as he seems to be covering CB a lot himself at the moment
