Well I heard a rumour he was on the phone to Neville Southall at the Hastings match on Monday.

You heard it here first  ;)

He did more or less say that McCammon had to show him that he was worthy of being picked again but that he had done a job that he was brought in to do. He was what we needed at that moment in time.

Spot on by McGhee - my judgement exactly of Big Mac. It was all we could afford at the time and he helped us get the 50pts. Now we have money, we can afford the six figures to bring in better players, Kazza (definitely better), and El Turi (hopefully better).

Well, unless there is more to be reported, it doesn't look like anything came out of tonight that wasn't either known before or could have been predicted. perhaps I was better off listening to SCR and learning about lesbian vicars after all.

MM isn't stupid. MCCammon did us a job for a few games last season ( can't knock him against Sunderland - probably his best ever game in league football) but facts are facts, he's not a Championship striker. He'll be on his merry way soon.

Sounds like Southampton are f***ing us around big time re: Blayney otherwise the deal would have been done before now. I've no doubt though that in a few weeks time, he'll be here alongside a few other players.

In the meantime, prepare for a bumpy few weeks before MM sorts the squad out.

But we have nine players set in stone. All we need is this ManU guy to live up to his potential and the experienced loan keeper to do the job.

Don't know how key the French winger Sebastien Carole will be, his track record is not startling, but I expect he'll get a run-out in the reserves to see if he's got something. I think the pronounciation is the same as the clown, so not a promising beginning :jester:

Yeah but it's asking a lot to go to Derby and try to get a result without a recognised keeper and to ask a 19 year old kid to hold the fort isn't it? Plus we haven't actually signed him yet, let alone began to work with him in training etc with the ever pacey Butters . I'm the biggest fan as next to anyone but I am concerned. Midfield looks weak. Jury obviously out on French winger.

Disagree with your assessment of our midfield. It will be a lot better this season because Hammond is in dynamite form and I think Reid will be employed much more there. They will add a touch of class to the more solid virtues of Chippy and the skipper.

The forward line will be light years better than what we had last year!

Bedding down the defence will be a concern, I grant you that. But if there's one thing we've learnt from watching McGhee's Albion teams over the last couple of years, is that he knows had a put out a team with an excellent defensive shape.

Derby might be too early for it all to come together, but that leaves us with a mere 45 games left. To me, it's all looking pretty good and much, much better than last season.

Our signings are much better than last season, and I think the squad is developing that little extra edge of class it didn't have last season.

Brett Mendoza appeared to anger McGhee by asking about McCammon.

Why does London Irish insist on calling players by odd names, particularly Kazza?

Entirely to get up your nose and provoke a reaction.

Result :clap2:

As for McGhee having a go at the anti-Big Mac fan, well, surprise, surprise, McGhee makes his feelings clear about what he thinks of eejity fans who scapegoat his players. Long overdue and only sad I wasn't there to see it :drink: :drink: :drink:

Seeing as you agree with every single sentence that McGhee says, I have a theory that you are in fact our merry Scottish manager. So you were there.
