Arteta looking doomed, will West Bromwich Albion stick with Bilic ? As for the Blades maybe the board don't see what's to gain in sacking Wilder ?

Sorry but that's total bòllocks. Arteta won the FA Cup last season and will remain with the club for another two years. Can't beat winning silverware. Never known such an injury crisis in 35 years. The true Gooners know how impossible things are at the moment. Things will get better at the Emirates.

His brand of football is so negative at the moment
The Geordies won't continue to accept it considering their attacking teams of yesteryears

If Mike Ashley remains in charge up there it won't matter a jot what the sulking Geordie masses want.

Bruce will likely ensure their Premier League status for another year and that's all Ashley cares about.

If Arsenal are in the same position in a few months time I can see Arteta being in trouble. However, think they'll sort themselves out. Don't think SUFC will sack Wilder he's carried them through the divisions could maybe see a mutual departure or him leaving fans would be fuming if they got rid of the manager despite where they are in the league. West Brom seems the obvious candidate but very early in the season and don't think they've been that bad. Dyche is safe, Parker is safe I actually think the first to go might be OGS if they lose to RBL and get hammered in the manchester derby OGS will be under so much pressure especially considering the amount of lucky wins they've got on the road this season.

So if as expected... we beat the Saints tomorrow,

Wait! What? We’re expected to beat Saints tomorrow?

We’ve not won at home all season. We’ve not beaten Southampton since joining the Premier League. We’re habitually garbage on a Monday evening.

I always struggle to be optimistic :lolol:

I'm gonna be controversial and say.

This might be the first season ever where there are no Managerial Casualties.

Arsenal fans still think it’s the early 2000’s and they have a divine right to finish in the top 4.

They need to wake up and realise they’re in the middle of the pack with a number of clubs. Capable of pinching anywhere from 14th - 5th. They need to give Arteta time, but they are some of the worst fans in this country in terms of supporting their manager (look at the way they hounded out their greatest manager of all time).

Sheffield Utd are an interesting one. If they did want to replace Wilder, other than gambling on an unknown, who on earth is out there, realistic and available? Poch? No chance. Rafa? You’d assume he’s holding out for Newcastle. Smug Eddie? Who’s just taken a team down? Surely not.

Or one of the merry go around types, Big Sam, Mark Hughes? Come on.

I think they’ll have to stick with Wilder. And either give him the January window, or let it ride knowing he’s capable of getting them back from the Championship.

They are a very deluded bunch.....

The match timer at the bottom of the screen allows you to pause your TV to sync it with the game.
It's fun watching their suffering.

The bald fella at the back is generally spot on, from what little I watched. The goals are hilarious, the gobby one at the front steaming off in anger is magnificent.

There is now a bit of noise about Bilic getting close to the last chance saloon.....

From Steve Madeley (West Brom's dedicated reporter for The Athletic):

https://theathletic.co.uk/2242840/2020/12/06/bilic-slaven-sack-job/

Slaven Bilic is fighting to save his job at West Bromwich Albion.
The head coach is still in post and looks set to get at least one more game, at Newcastle United on Saturday, to turn around a season that is threatening to unravel spectacularly after yesterday’s 5-1 capitulation at home to Crystal Palace.
But there is little doubt that Bilic’s position at The Hawthorns is under greater scrutiny than at any stage in his 18-month reign, with relations with his employers fragile.
With just one win and six points from 11 games and a worst-in-the-table 23 goals conceded, it goes without saying that the season is going very badly for Albion on their return to the top division.
But why? Well, at present, it feels like a perfect storm.

If a team is going to take that step, then it will need to be before the January transfer window to allow the new manager to get an extra couple of players in to help them survive.
If WBA got rid of Bilic , or Sheffield United got rid of Wilder I can’t see a new manager making much of a difference, and frankly I don’t think many good managers would fancy the challenge.

I think any manager within the bottom 8 - including our gaffer will be in danger of the chop if there are 3 consecutive heavy defeats on the trot

I reckon GP would be safe even if we were relegated. He's part of a long-term project (which is why he has a long contract).

I think we'd pretty well placed to come straight back up - we'd sell a few players for quite a bit of bunce but still keep most of our squad. If Potter failed to get promoted, then he might go but he's with us for a bit yet

Potter will not get sacked but that won't be the reason

There are at least 3 teams who who have much poorer squads so unlikely to be at risk of going down . And secondly, due to the fact that Dan Ashworth likes him there.

.......and he’s developing the youth, improved how we play, fits the club ethos etc etc.......biggest risk we have with Potter IMO is losing him to a bigger club. If/when we start to move up the table and consolidate higher up (I think we will) it’ll happen.

I think the chairmen of Burnley, Fulham, West Brom and Sheff Utd need to look at the Championship table. Quite conceivably the 3 relegated last season could all bounce back at the first attempt, and Norwich with the same manager.

It has taken longer than I expected but the Premier League yo-yo is now in effect, and so a relegation is not the be-all and end-all it was once portrayed. What was are seeing is one promoted club per season appearing to stick around - us, Wolves, Villa and probably Leeds, so the relegation zone is getting smaller.

Sacking a manager who got you promoted is a dangerous game, and I think the only point of doing it is to get someone who is available and quality, like Eddie Howe. If you sack your manager and expect one of the usual binners like Allardyce to get you out of the shit it is a gamble - Fulham and West Brom know all about that anyway.

I'm not sure it's a gamble: I'm pretty sure that no team has been relegated under Allardyce, it would be a safe choice. It won't be pretty football though, which is why Everton, West Ham, Newcastle et al got rid.

Its a good choice but never safe, if a team is bad enough the manager wont be able to do anything about it and Allardyce never coached a team as bad as the current bottom teams. I also believe he pretty much considers himself retired unless something spectacular shows up.

I'm with you on this, but still remain unsure of who will go for him. I doubt the 'top six' will, and there are certain clubs that I also doubt he'll find that appealing in comparison to us (Wolves and West Ham, for various reasons, spring to mind). Everton and Leicester are about the only two that I can think of at present.

I think if Hasenhutl leaves, Potter would be the first name on the Southampton hit list.
