If these bids are true for both players, why oh why have we left it so late that they can keep upping the prices? It makes no sense to me.

Running out of options now. Hopefully the club has learned from this because it's becoming a joke now

Perhaps that's something that could have been investigated a few days/weeks/months ago.

Yep, leaving the most important bits of business until the last day of the season, and then bidding for players that clubs want to keep hold of is a pretty indefensible transfer strategy.

Have to imagine there would be a board meeting/ discussion /review of progress so far then ENSURE deals are completed tomorrow..or face epic failure of biggest proportions on the world football stage..

Because they followed the advice of NSC 'experts' who told us in April, May and June that prices fall at the very end of the window, with clubs desparate to offload.
The other school of thought was that that's a bloody risky game and that fees/wage demands increase.
