Evening NSCers,

I thought that I would a bring a debate that we are having at home to a wider audience. Me and my housemates are debating how much money we would be comfortable keeping if we found it in the street. We have put aside the logistics of actually finding large amounts of money in the street.

I think I would be comfortable with anything up to £100. Anything over that I would probably hand in.

What does everyone else think?

I would hand in anything over £50 quid to the cops, anything less I would give to charity...depending on the circumstances of course, if the money were in a purse or something like an envelope with an address on then I would hand in any amount.

Would depend on a few factors. If I was aware that there had been a robbery in the area then I would hand a large amount in. Otherwise I would only hand in an amount over a few grand.

The most I've ever found was £25 and handed it in to the first pub I found in exchange for lots of beer.:drink:

I once lost a wallet in the street. It had about £20 in it, plus credit cards etc.

The first I knew about losing it was when I had a phone call from Lewes Police Station, after someone handed the whole lot in.

If it was a single note, I would probably keep it.

Anything more, or money in a wallet would be handed in, in full.

I did actually once find a hundred quid, neatly folded, on the pavement in Preston Drove. You'd like to think that a chunk of dosh like that you'd miss, maybe it was even somebody's pay packet, so I handed it in at local police HQ. Filled in a form and everything. A month later, called back to see if anybody had claimed it. They hadn't. Result! Clear conscience and a hundred quid to the good

If it was in a wallet then I would hand it in. That is different to finding a wad of cash.

I lost my wallet with credit cards once in Peacehaven. A kid found it and handed it in. I was much relieved and gave him a tenner.

If I found a wallet or a purse then I would hand it in or contact the person it belongs to but if I find a few notes laying around then their mine. I guess once it gets to the £100 mark or above then you've got to think about handing it in though.

talking of preston drove i once saw some geezer fall out of the park view lagging drunk with a delivered curry, drop his wallet and then further on his curry and a local cat came and joined him on the pavement to lap up his madras. this was about 5pm. i walked up to him give him his wallet back he went cheers mate and continued his pavement feast with the cat.

always give it all back, what sort of a c unt would you be to take the cash then give it back. you might as well clone their cards.

When you said "local cat" I thought you meant a local dude of some kind. Imagine my delight when it was, literally, a cat.

But things were a lot different in the 30's, weren't they?

I picked up what I thought was a wet squashed £5 note outside Victoria station once and looked round to see who was watching as well.

I was well pleased as it was a £20 note.
