So we and other clubs can only spend what we generate. If we don't meet these conditions we get penalised either on the pitch with a freeze on tranfers, or in our pocket in a rather Lord of the Flies fashion, by getting fined and that money being distributed between other championship clubs.
Given that we made a loss of 8m this cycle, does anyone know the time frame that is given to balance the books?

Also which clubs do you think are going to be hit hardest by these major new changes?

According to Barber on Southern Counties this afternoon, we have to be losing no more than 10 million by next season and the amount will go down gradually but he didn't say by how much and over what timescale. I would hazard a guess that all clubs are going to struggle and English football will suffer greatly with a lot of the best players going overseas in the short term. In the long term though, it should encourage more clubs to invest in the youth system rather than buying their way to titles so should be a great thing for us over the next decade or two.

I think it's about time & hopefully clubs will start investing more in the youth & we will start seeing more top quality English players because of this.

Each championship club will be allowed to make a 10m quid loss this season, that goes down to 8 next season, then 6, then 5. Not sure what happens after that though.

where? i think you'll find the money in the Championship is better than many squad players will get in the of the top tier abroad. and the top teams all have to follow Uefa's FFP system. the purpose is to encourage clubs to be self sufficent and that applies to home grown players as much as general finance.

the clubs that will be hit hardests will be the smaller ones with small grounds and/or big nearby neighbours. so many northern teams will struggle a bit unless they get very fortunate with a few quality players coming through their ranks. thats why the academy is as important as the stadium for the future.

And when you consider match attendance (which we were the largest again in the Championship today) and sales as the major revenue streams, some teams are going to have to sell a lot of shirts to balance wages etc its not just the small teams, im thinking Cardiff, Leicester, Blackburn maybe even Bolton.

Paul Barber said on the Albion roar that you'll be allowed a £5 million lose a year unless I misheard him.

In the prog today that you are allowed an £8 million loss next season and £5 million the season after. The values will continue to go down after that but not sure how quickly.
