Just watched Filth and it got me thinking what a quality writer Irvine Welsh is. Dark and sinister but such an imagination.

Anyone got any favourite film adaptations or books

The best I read was Maribou Stork Nightmares, that blew me away at the time.

I loved Maribou stork nightmares, ecstasy, the acid house and trainspotting. I have to say I got a little bored of him after filth, glue and porno but I got skag boys for Christmas. Anyone read it? Any good? Should I read it? Ae dinnae ken.

Ps if you like Welsh try James Kelmsn's How late it was, how late.

Ta I will look that up, I was wondering about skag boys too. I got a little bored after filth too but i wonder if it would be a good time for a revisit.

Anyone seen the film of ecstasy?

Skagboys is a great book. The passages about the miners strike at the beginning are very evocative I thought.

Didnt like the Crime book that came out the other year mind.

Whatvere anyone does dont buy the Ecstasy film. Its shite.

I have read most of Welsh's books - not that 'Masterchefs' one - and I have to say I love them. Funny, dark at times, real page turners.

I read 'How Late it was, How Late' a few years ago - it makes Irvine Welsh's books look like joyful little tales - never have I read such an unrelentingly miserable book. It was like being bashed over the head repeatedly with a log wrapped in barbed wire.

I enjoyed it though!
