Pretty good film, found it enjoyable if not very original.
If you liked that, watch Boss level. About a guy stuck in a constant daily loop of being killed by assassins. Very entertaining and totally OTT.

Finally caught up with this last night. Very entertaining and amusingly silly and violent. Still free on Amazon Prime. For a movie that starts looking like a very low budget thing, albeit with cracking effects, it was a surprise to see Naomi Watts and Mel Gibson crop up in major roles. The core of the storyline was a bit of a McGuffin but none the worse for that.

After sinking a few glasses of a lovely red, Mrs D and I settled down last night to watch Killing Gunther, a strange yet entertaining film. Done in the form of a documentary, it follows a bunch of killers who are after their ultimate target - someone only known as Gunther (played by Arnie Schwartzenegger) - who proves difficult to kill. Quirky and fun; suspect not the biggest of budgets (some of the explosions didn't seem to be the most convincing), and Arnie clearly had a ball doing the film. It's not the sort of film which would have bothered any awards ceremonies but when you are in the mood for a bit of silly escapism, who cares? Currently on Prime.

Just got back from watching Free Guy. Very good.
It's simple and stupid fun. You don't have to be in to gaming to enjoy this film, the Mrs loved it and didn't get half the jokes (kind of like our relationship actually), loads of gaming references which made me chuckle (Portal, Fortnight, GTA, Just Cause, to name a few) also Marvel and Star Wars. Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer both very good, first decent film we've seen at the cinema for a long time. 8/10.

This. Realised I had a soppy smile on my face through much of the film as it was so amusing and fun. Out on DVD/Blu/4K in two weeks time - shows how successful it has been that it still enjoys multiple screenings a day at the cinema.

Cop Shop - Competent thriller with plenty of gunplay all done in a slick fashion. Alexis Louder is ****ing great in it.

Cry Macho - Eastwood’s latest. Directing and starring. He’s 91 and looks utterly ridiculous beating up Mexican drug cartels and turning down sex from a thirty something stunner. A bizarre, ridiculous scene among many bizarre, ridiculous scenes.
If I’ve seen a worse film in the last few years, I don’t remember it.

A rizla thin plot and pathetic set pieces. This film needs erasing. It is absolutely dire.

Yeah it's on at the London Film Festival, but only the final night, and not on one of the more affordable repeat daytime showings. So i'll have to sit and wait for a bit. I will be able to, at last though, introduce my 4 year old son to Latvian animation. So not all is lost.

I've been looking forward to this for ages. Maybe expected too much.

I like a long film, and at 165 mins it's long.
For me that was the best thing.
Favourite bits were all contained on the trailer.

Dome Cinema in Worthing is terrific.
Beers, G&T, proper glasses.
Very reasonable pricing.

Just a shame about the film

I thought it was excellent. Very good last hurrah for Craig. It's got all you'd want from a modern Bond film. I felt a bit sad it was DC's last outing. Ana de Armas deserves a special mention, her character is great and her scenes are some of the best in the film. And Ben Whishaw has a bit of character exposition which was dome well.
And don't fret if you were were worried about someone else adopting the 007 mantle for this outing, it's not what you think.
Okay, it's not the best film and it's flawed but it rockets along at a good pace, it's well written and delivers one of the best Bond movies IMO. Enjoy!

I became somewhat restless in my chair through the last hour of No Time to Die. I'd had enough by then. Wasn't too bad, but an odd end to things though, seeming to say that it's a tradition best buried with a tad of ridicule. Hot chicks not really swooning, tuxedos barely donned, and Bond wearing dad jeans for long spells. A Bond awash with emotion doesn't seem natural, but incessant regurgitation has to reach its limits i suppose, and perhaps there is room now for a resuscitation that cleans the pallet.

Went to Crawley today to see this, and have to agree with everything here. I know it is a long film, but unlike (say) LOTR 3, it didn't feel that long.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to see what direction they go with Bond 26.

Second visit this afternoon to No Time to Die. In the meantime, I had rewatched the Craig era in order.

Still 5* from me, and today was with a more critical hat on. Spectre and QoS I had only seen once apiece, unlike Casino Royale and Skyfall which I have probably now seen dozens of times. It just feels like an epic and meant for the big screen. I think it will lose a lot without the cinema audio/visual experience, unless you have a very fancy set up.

I didn't really pick up on anything I missed, but having things like Mr White's relevance to the overall plot and Bond's relationships with Vesper Lynd and Felix Leiter fresh in my mind - and their arcs comprehensively covered with some retcons which genuinely work - gave the rewatch experience extra interest for me. It gives fanservice while making the story arc thoroughly complete.

And that is what the movie is - thorough. It works on its own, but the threads through it are there to be enjoyed off the back of the other movies in the Craig era. They are the sprinkles on the ice cream, which make a perfectly great stand alone movie that bit more special.

The length wasn't a problem for me at all. There are no do-overs for the closing of this Bond universe, they had to get everything packed away. And I feel the writers and director did it beautifully.

My one criticism? While not bad, Rami Malek still feels like he is just doing Rami Malek from Mr Robot again, but with an accent and make up. The same big wide-eyed stare, the same slightly gormless broody pout and effeminate lisp... If you could swap out Javier Bardem's character and performance as Silva, you'd have one of the great action movies of all time.

Mrs T and I have booked an 11.00 am showing in Ashford tomorrow, followed by a late slap up lunch in a swanky restaurant. What could possibly go wrong?

I hate the cinema, because of various issues related to my mental make up, but am very much looking forward to this (small room, few punters owing to the strange time of day for it, et cetera )
