Could be, I guess it just felt like the porn was a bit gratuitous in the end, if I want to watch porn I wouldn't go to the movies.

I saw Chronicle earlier today. I quite liked it. I felt like they read 7 Awesome Super Powers (Ruined by Science) | Cracked.com before filming the flying scenes, which, for me, was a good thing. I didn't see what the handheld camara gimmick added, but it wasn't too distracting.

I watched 'Just Go With It' tonight, with Adam Sandler (he was in it, not actually with me).

It was surprisingly good. Helped in no small part by Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman not wearing much. But as romcom stuff goes, it was better than average I thought.

My main reason for going to see The Descendants was because it was filmed in Hawaii and that's where I went on holiday last year so I was keen to see how much I recognised of the place. Having hated Up in the Air last year, I wasn't expecting George Clooney to be anything more than trying to appeal to a certain type of female in the audience.

But I liked this film. I was particularly impressed with the performance by the actress playing Clooney's eldest daughter, and by some of the really awkward moments of the film which made compelling watching. As has been said above, its not really a film to be deeply analysed, but worth a look, even if you don't get to see enough of Hawaii in the background.

The Woman In Black
This is not going to redefine the horror/thriller genre, but it was decent enough, if you can believe Harry Potter is old enough to have a four year old song. Personally, I found his voice lacking a certain bass to by into him as a young father, but putting that aside, the story works if you just imagine him as a young lawyer, and otherwise his performance was fine enough.

Generally I find the two things that ruin horror movies for me are the music that tells you this is (meant to be) a scary moment and you should be on edge, and an over reliance on special effects, particularly cgi effects. This was quite light, or felt it, on the latter, probably average for the former.

Overall, the whole thing was just decent, for me. Not 'must see', but you probably won't be angry at yourself for watching it feeling you've wasted time/money.

I have been looking forward to seeing The Woman In Black for months. It is my Number One favourite stage play and I was looking forward to the film version in a similar way to the film version of Warhorse.

However, where Warhorse didn't, for me, quite match the drama of the stage play, I thought the big screen version of The Woman in Black was bloody brilliant.
The story was based on the original book by Susan Hill, rather than the stage version and as a result was a better adaptation for the cinema.

I am not a Harry Potter fan and, not having seen more than one of those films, I didn't have the problem of confusing the Arthur Kipps character with a young fictional wizard, which I have heard is a distraction for some people watching this film. True, he didn't look old enough to have a young son, but I thought he played the part well.

There were a few jump out of your seat moments, like in the play, but the film wasn't overloaded with special effects or dialogue and for me was my film of the year so far. Can't see it troubling the Oscars in twelve months time, but this is a great tale, told well in this film.

I recommend it. 9/10

Loved The Muppets. Took a while to get into it the feel of it as the songs were very Flight of the Conchords-ish (er, which made sense when reading the credits at the end) but once i did i found it brilliant. Many laughs and highly recommended to the over 30's!

Ed Harris in Jacknife, 80s, looked 50 so I hope his makeup artist is working wonders.

Margin Call - agree. Decent film but not all it aspired to be. 6

Tyrannosaur - immense performances and has stayed with me. Glad I was not in a cinema so I could have a good weep! 9

V For Vendetta - ok, so definitely not 2012 but good fun and the best comic book adaptation I've seen. 7

The Woman in Black - Shiver me timbers how is that film a 12A?!!? They'll be kids scarred the length and breadth of the nation as a result of the British Film Board's inappropriatly low classification of this film (and no I'm not talking about Daniel Radcliffe's spooky, dead eyes doing a number on our nation's youth). See it at the cinema for the full experience and the reactions of people around you - the missus and I had to go and change our knickers at half time.

87.2 out of ten - great scares, great sets, great cast and fantastic production - a sumptuous visual feast.

Has anyone seen Chronicle yet? Have heard mixed reviews so far, and a few of you seem to know whatnyour talking about!

I liked Chronicle. It had the same wobbly-cam feel as Cloverfield but the three central actors are very good and really lifted the film for me. Whilst quite a lot of the movie is really dealing with teenage frustration/rites of passage stuff there is an impressive action sequence at the end and the whole thing is treated to a far more earthy and hand-made type approach that is the case with most hollywood fodda. I would recommend it.

Saw the Muppets with my 9-year-old son last night. No 3-D, no high-tech computer wizardry, just a great family film with great characters, storyline, gags and songs - all squeezed into 90mins.

Rampart
Woody Harrelson gave a great performance, but the film itself was, I thought, a bit of a let down. It was slow paced and didn't really feel like it went anywhere or that there was any character growth, probably not helped by an inconclusive finis.

The Muppets
Absolutely brilliant! I loved it. The music was great, bret mckenzie brought his flight of the conchords flavour to it, fozzie was back to his wise-cracking best (worst) and the story seemed to work really well. I loved this movie.

Apparantly shooting part of it now in Croydon. Genuinely.

Perhaps they needed a really scummy looking set and you simply can't get better that there.

Should have called the film Dick Knight as our hero goes in and clears the shithole up

When an action thriller comes out starring the ever-charming Denzel Washington the likely guess is the generally talentless Tony Scott is behind the camera. Safehouse looked exactly this in the trailer, but it was actually directed by someone else. They emulated the general vacuity of hot-bodied hero and extravagant unrealism of his villainous semi-heroic rival, and even threw in a generally foolish narrative to somehow tie the action scenes together, but it seemed to lack that Tony Scott magic. I wasn't sure if this made it better or worse. I was bored for a time, but some of the action was ok. A car chase, a few punch-ups and a camera wobbling all over the place to make it seem like more is going on. All a bit silly really. Denzel is class though. And Ryan Reynolds is pale in his shadow.
