Strange choices,2 of these films would be in my top 20 of all time .

Whats your worst ever film ?.

10. Highlander 2
9. Eyes Wide Shut
8. Battlefield Earth
7. The Avengers
6. Batman & Robin
5. The Blair Witch Project
4. Vaniila Sky
3. Pearl Harbor
2. AI - Artificial Intelligence
1. Titanic

AI was a superb film, and the creatures at the end were robots not aliens !.

Titanic was a very good film imho

Pearl Harbor - nowhere near as bad as made out and with the 2nd greatest battle scene ever commiteed to celluloid behind Saving Private Ryan only.

Vanilla Sky - I thought was very good and thought provoking.

So the top 4 I totally disagree with.

I thought Pearl Harbor was quite good.

I've only heard good things about AI too.

Although have to use known movies because otherwise it would be a boring lit of films no one had ever heard of! :jester:

Some of those films are overrated but the worst 10? What a load of cack.

How can you put Titanic in that list and leave out shocking films like Charlie's Angels and Jack.

Spot on with Eyes Wide Shut - a pretenscious, piss poor waste of 3 hours only redeemed by about 5 seconds of copious amounts of shagging.

i'm amazed a.i. is number 2

i watched it the other day and although it didn't set my world on fire, i thought it was a good film and fairly interesting...the whole do you feel sorry for him/it thing is pretty good. my point is i watch so many films and at the end think, christ what a waste of 2 hours. a.i. at least entertained me, so why that is in the top 10, and a million other shite ones aren't i dunno.

How can a film that won something like 11 oscars be number 1? Who the hell complied the list, probably Jonathan Wos.

Without wanting to sound sanctimonious, I just think people did not understand AI and the statement it was making, the amount of people writing about it saying, " the bit at the end with the aliens " made me realise they did not get it. They were not aliens but super advanced robots which were the end product of the family from which David, AI came from 2000 years ago.

If you understand the film it make it easier to apprieciate it !.

Titanic is now an easy target for some reason but it is an excellent piece of work.

I doubt it. Otherwise at number one we'd have seen that recent shower of shite featuring J Lo and Ben Affleck that took about 12pee at box offices recently.

He said it was the worst film he'd ever seen. I like Jonathan Ross's reviews.

Blair Witch is a good film, it just suffered from being drastically over hyped as the scariest film ever.

Vanilla Sky is complete shite IMHO, theres absolutely no point to it, having said that I can think of worse choices that would be in there

Blair Witch, Titanic and Pearl Harbor are not bad movies. I entirely agree with Batman and Robin, the only time I've ever wanted to leave the cinema early.

Star Wars Attack of the Clones was the first time I started looking round the cinema bored out of my mind, similar feelings to Daredevil which I was dragged along to aswell, they should have been in there somewhere!

Blair Witch Project is a great horror movie IMHO, and I also enjoyed Eyes Wide Shut.

That's a shocking Top 10. What about Pretty Woman, Steel Magnolias, Beaches, Crash, Police Academy 6?...

I don't think the problem with AI is people not understanding it, anyway you understand what you want from a film.

The problem with it is that it was ludicrously oversentimentalised pap. The director is known for getting off on 'moving' the audience, in that film he totally lost the plot and went for what was going to make middle America blub. No thanks.

There is so much snobbery in film critics it makes my blood boil. As soon as it becomes popular it gets slatted. I suppose its no great suprise Titanic was slated as it took £ 1 800 000 000 at the box office.

People feel superior by slating something everyone else likes as it makes them feel special.

Still Titanic was voted the most popular film of all time in a voters poll 2 years ago so I spose the Film 2003 viewers are in the same mould as Barry " if its popular its shite and if it is a Polish Black & White film with subtitles it is brilliant " Norman.

Tooting - I thought the last 15 minutes of AI was the best not the worst part of the film. Its where the whole film came together as a statement.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
AI is poop. Poop covered in cheese. Grilled lightly for 4 minutes with a dash of tobasco sauce. Devoured by me. And then pooped out again.
The problem with it is that a sickly-sweet bearded boy tried to direct the vision of a dead bearded man whose films are famously icy. So what came out was tepid. Bland. Lifeless, yet sentimental.
People probably voted for it because it was an utter waste of potential.
i got the idea of it, but it was so poorly executed that i thought of asking for my money back.

And please don't get me started on the borefest that is Titanic. Oscars are doled out to all kinds of shit nowadays. Thats why Tom Hanks has a couple of them.

I forgot to add my own suggestion, Dune. The most boring film ever, and I don't go to the cinema to get bored out of my skull, there are many other ways to do that (IKEA, hoovering, work dos, etc etc)

I think Blair witch and titanic are in there for backlash purposes, as they were so successful.

I thought Blair Witch was a good piece of innovative film making and marketing, which could only be done on a small budget.

And whilst I would not say titanic was a great film, it was alright once the boat started to sink, a reasonable piece of entertainment imho.

Why isn't Armageddon on that list, I almost had to head butt the screen because of the dialogue in that film, saved only by steve buscemi's one liners. And what about Field of Dreams am I the only one to think it was a load of overrated nonsense.

And relax......

Gareth, I totally agree with you that film critics are not the best people to necessarily take advice from about what is a good film. They have a pressure to go off on one about integrity blah blah blah. People want to be entertained, or made to think. Some good blockbusters have been unfairly panned. Like Caddyshack. But AI is surely not the one to nail your colours to the mast on.
