Meh. These are a shit idea.

Having said that, the last time I was SERIOUSLY fussed about international football was Euro '96. The (international) game's gone.

Infantino just cannot help but diminish the World Cup. The 2030 cup is looking like an utter farce, five countries and now 64 teams. Utter madness.
It's almost like this Saudi puppet actually wants to kill the golden goose. It will be nonsense. This will turn some group games into the womens world cup or an U13 tournament, 13-0 anyone?
I suppose that given there will be hardly any fans going it doesn't matter how many teams there are. Why not just make it all 195 countries with the thing lasting 4 months.

Brighton factually.....
More injuries and tired players, if I was a player there would come a point when you say, nah I get paid enough to play elite football I cannot jeopardise that for some tournament that could see me play some noddy team like Scotland or San Marino and get seriously injured in the middle of the season no doubt in Saudi or Israel no doubt after that.

What’s even the point of playing qualifying now?

😂

You really are cynical bastards averse to any kind of change.

Generally speaking, the changes made by the footballing bodies are positive.

New Champions League format ☑️

Introducing Conference League ☑️

Scrapping FA Cup replays ☑️

Scrapping Cup Winners' Cup ☑️

Why not have 64 teams? As long as they get the format right, sounds like a great idea.

What's the point in qualifying round you say? Well, we can't let ABSOLUTE minnows like Faroe Islands or Gibraltar rock up... but I think it would be great to see more of the Panamas, Malis or North Koreas of this world have a go.

I'm torn. Expanding the Euros has created some good stories, eg the likes of Georgia and Albania who would have otherwise struggled to qualify. Both of those teams are currently ranked below 64th in the world rankings so we're not talking about letting COMPLETE shit in and probably does reflect how global football is now- there are always top level players who miss out

On the other hand the first round will be a COMPLETE slog

I think it is high time we have a World League with all 64 teams playing each other home and away. This could easily be fitted into that dead window between mid July and end of July with teams playing 8 games a day.

32 teams was absolutely perfect, so of course FIFA have fking ruined it.

Not really perfect, is it.

The group stages are a bit of a bore, I wonder if they plan to put it straight to a knock out - which would be more entertaining.

Plus more countries are represented, again, more entertaining.

I'm all for this - more countries should be represented at the World Cup finals in a way to make it more entertaining 👍

I don't agree with the new Champions League format myself. And having a team finish in 24th place out of 32 and still reach a play off is not a just reward. I didn't start watching this year till the final round of matches.

The Conference League is only worth watching from the Quarter Finals and only worthwhile cos Brighton might get in it.

I'd be more than happy to have the Cup Winners Cup back.

64 teams in a World Cup again means it's not a worthy watch until the third round, unless there are some odd pairings thrown up.
