Due to injuries/unfitness, yesterday i had to play Kuipers up front alongside Davies, neverthless i ended up with my biggest victory of the season 6-1 against Cardiff, Davies scoring 4, Livermore 1 and Wright 1.

And again today due to the same problem i played Graeme Smith as CB, finihing a 3-2 victory verses Donny.

Anyone else have similar stories?

i had to bring kuipers on up front with dickinson for last half hour vs southend at home, he scored the 5th in a thrilling 6-1 victory :p

Does anyone get annoyed at the shadows on the pitch? My eyesight must be poor because I struggle to see what's going on when the ball is in the shadow of a stand/floodlight.

Also, the cut screen to the slow pan across a stand every time a sub is made really annoys me for some reason.

the new Footy manager will be amazing on the pc so i would stick with that if you have a good enough pc (dusnt have to be amazing mind) if you want to enjoy the new gfx engine upgrades.

the new fifa is VERY realistic, but youll find it more entertaining/realistic playing exhibition games against friends i would assume, if you prefer fm games.

no idea about this years pro evo. bought last years and finally had enough, way too arcadey

So, is Footy Manager a different game altogether? Sorry to sound dense and all that.

yes, footy manager is all about managing the club and pretty much every aspect of it (what a MANAGER does, you dont do the role of the chairman though) so its a lot of tables and text, and a nice 3d match view for when your playing people. Bearing in mind you dont have control over the players mid-game, all you can control during the game is substitutions, tactics etc (and can now shout instructions on the new game) you dont have any physical control over each player. Its available on PC/Mac and i think PSP (might have some features removed, i dont know)

incredibly immersive and ridiculously realistic and can keep you hooked for HOURS, although all your really doing is pointing and clicking. although people complain about the lack of graphics on it

FIFA and pro evo are completely different games. Very basic (in comparison) control over the running of the club, and more focus on YOU playing the game (you control the players etc, so its your ability to play the game, rather than manage the team) oh, and its available on pretty much all consoles and pc.

i dont know if your looking to buy pro evo or fifa or footy manager, but from what iv found more people are enjoying fifa now than previously, im not a fanboy or anything, as i usually buy both, but i dont have the time/money for pro evo as well as fifa, so im not going to bother. some people just prefer pro evo tho, so fair play to them. think youll be pleasantly surprised by this years fifa effort though even if you are normally a pro evo man

i dont know if you meant all this, so i might sound stupidly condescending but hopefully this helps you if your looking at a certain type of game.

Yep, that's very helpful.... I've done a search of Football Manager, and I've seen that Championship Manager is also available, but less 'complicated' that FM... any thoughts on the relative merits of each?

In its most simplest form, CM is complete garbage compared to FM.

dont be fooled, all the best boys from the original classic CM games have all switched over to FM.

Champ Man may be more simple, but thats only cos it has loads less features and playability than footy manager has.

trust me, you should go for footy manager, its daunting at first but once youve got the hang of it youll really get stuck into it (my mate always has games that have gone well into the year 2030), and youll find little aspects of management theyv included that you hadnt realised was there (which is a good thing, not a bad thing!)

it also starts up with an automated help feature when you start the game that should get you going with the basics that you need, and once youve become more adept at the game you can switch them off. it also gives you hints during the loading screen, which can be useful!

you can also play online or on a network against your mates (choosing a club each) which me and my mates at uni did to death, and its amazingly fun, especially playing in the same league as youll get the same footy banter going that you would have in front of the footy on tv.

if you pre-order , depending on which site you go for you can get little 'goodies'

iv ordered off play.com so you can personalise the game 'sleeve' (dvd cover) and i know another (might be game.co.uk) offers a managers journal or something, very lame and geeky but if you love footy manager youll probably use it anyway!

just realised iv written another wall of text and hijacked a thread, but im such a geek for footy games so hopefully this should give you enough info
