Just come back from a good old celebrationary drink after today but I have to say todays attendance really sickened and angered me slightly. WHERE WERE THESE FANS WHEN WE PLAYED SWINDON? NORTHAMPTON? YEOVIL? WHEN WE NEEDED 3 POINTS TO AVOID TODAYS GAME. WHERE WERE THE EFFORTS FROM THE CLUB TO IMPROVE THE ATMOSPHERE ALL YEAR? I remember back in the early 00's we went to pompey lost 4-2 and sang the chan 'where were you when you were shit?!' today made me feel like brighton will become one of those clubs once we move to Falmer and it made me slightly angry.

Im not saying as a STH during the difficuly years means i am a bigger fan or that as some people cant go to every game means they arent just as big fans but we could have sold out 2/3 times the amount of tickets for today. where was thew effort to do that before this last week?

Its been a hard season and one Im happy is over. looking forward to drunken weekend in southampton, norwich and leeds next season but I cant help but feel a little discusted by the attitude of some fans that as wuthdean is a bad place to watch football and the ticket prices are high the club dont deserve our support despite them needing it unless the price is value for money.

I was saying today I haven't seen so much desire and heart about the club from players fans and local media in a long time....since we have become a dull and unsuccessful medicore lower league club. And im sick of the fact that that gice people an excuse to write us off as shit and boring and decide to stay at home and watch andy gray and jeff stelling. Until when it gets interesting. We should sell out withdean every saturday game. even against hartlepool and carlisle.

Does anyone share my discust in modern football fans?

P.S. I also think Russel Slade could be the best thing that has happen to this club in a LONG LONG time

Oh shut up you bunch of moaning little fools. Football at the end of the day is entertainment. Some people will have passion, some will just want to be entertained every now and the. PUT LIFE INTO PERSPECTIVE and think toy yourself, 'did i really just spend 10 minutes writing about my hatred for people i dont even know?'

Get over it, for goodness sake.

So what if they turn up for just one game, they were there today to support the team in their quest for survival. Does it bother me? - No

Some people just can't get to may games, should they be excluded just because others don't believe that they attend enough games? - No

Does there attendance today mean that there is a greater chance that they will return for future matches - Yes

I never understand this need by some to feel that as they attend X number of games, they are more entitled to something or are better supporters than someone else.

Has anyone ever considered the fact that maybe they had been to some of those previous games? Do you think the 5000 regulars are exactly the same people every week?

Exactly. Put it all into perspective, people sometimes dont want to come. Simple. Dont make them bad fans, just not as passionate. There money and attendence is worth exactly the same as yours.

You seemed to have summed up others opinons well. but wasnt rewally the point i was trying to make. Im all up for people just going to a few games a season as ive not been a sth every year ive followed brighton. circumstances dont allow. and i understand that people want to come to the big games. today bigger than any other. I just found it all a bit annoyingly over the top. A bit fake. Guess that aint the fans who didnt go 23 times this year4 more the club for creating that atmosphere.

That said the atmosphere was great today. maybe i need to unmount from my high horse and understand football has change and we must accewpt and revel in this attitude.

Its simple......there are about 5000 addicts of Brighton and Hove Albion who will go, no matter how shit the football is.

There are another 5000 who will go to see a moderately successful team.

There are another 2000-3000 who will go to see a promotion bound team on a regular basis.

There are another 15000 who will go to Wembley etc etc on the glory days.

Without all the above, Falmer would be a complete and utter waste of time.

Get over it.............just because we,re addicts doesn't make us "special"....:lol:

depends how you define special? i sometimes find myself bordering on mentally insane

i guess this seasonn may have help turn me more bitter and cynical about life and football in general and today almost tipped me over the edge until forster scored (what a gem!). I guess im just annoyed how the club seems to keep selling out in search for glory. The whole Wilkins fiasco personifys this.

Its better to keep the fact that you're a supporter of BHA through thick and thin to yourself. New and infrequent supporters should be welcomed with open arms.

They are the ones who will enable us to continue to enjoy our "addiction" for years to come.

How the club keeps selling out in search of glory? - what a load of drivel

You just sound bitter and twisted, get over yourself Its not all about you.

If proper fans, and by proper I mean, who go home and away, miss out on a ticket to the first game at Falmer, due to these (unts who only go because it's a 'big game' well , then they deserve to be shot.

So, as a Spurs fan, I take it you will be missing it to allow a "proper fan to take your place":p

Save 'where were you when you were shit' for the hundreds of Chelsea 'fans' that seem to be in the way on the trip home these days.

The 5000 attendance every week isn't the exact same 5000 people is it? People who can only make every 2 or 3 games will obviously all make the effort to go to the most important games - common sense. Its not like the Withdean was full with an extra 3000 fans who hadn't been all season.

I for one gladly welcome any new and occasional fans, enough if sometimes I might miss out.

Get a grip people - at the Withdean it's pretty bloody clear we won't sell out every game at our current level of peformance so enjoy it when we do and don't scare people off with the 'better fan' attitude.

I took my daughter today to her first ever footie match as i knew the atmosphere would be great and as she enjoyed it she will probably come again. Isnt this what you want for the club -new punters that will help fill Falmer? There seems to be this anti-newbie feeling running thru "true fans"
