So clearly we are being more clinical than quite a number of teams given our league position is 13th not 19th.
If we can maintain or improve our 'taking chances' rate with new acquisitions in January, more chances created should lead to more goals and our inexorable rise up the table to a Europa League place :lolol:

It's from this BBC article by Phil Neville. His conclusion that the only two teams throwing away the fear shackles and attacking, CP and WHU, are climbing the table as a result.

Hardly surprising. Goals and wins keeps teams up.

I think anyone of us could have written that article ..goals win matches gosh..one off someone’s backside would have done on Saturday

Still I can’t see either West Ham or Crystal Palace being more than 2/3 wins above the bottom three along with 8 or 9 others..Palace have done well since Woy got them back to basics and playing as they have done in the past ..but currently they r so reliant on Zaha

Just as a matter of interest how much of a difference do you see tactics wise between us and Burnley
They set up the same as us on Saturday..most of their matches have been low scoring affairs ..o ..they play it very tight and grab the odd goal ...I don’t see us changing tactics ..but we sure do need that odd goal

That's a very good point, well made. Tactics wise we are very similar. Burnley are just better at doing it on a more consistent basis. Player for player I'm not sure there is much in that Burnley team that I would have over ours other than the attacking options they have up front.

The correlation between goals scored and points earned in the prem is generally very very close to a goal equals a point.

Last season 12 teams were within three and only four were more than 5 different. Big outliers. Chelsea 93 points 85 goals, Man U 69 points 54 goals, Bournemouth 46 points from 55 goals, palace 41 from 50 goals.

Current position this season
13 within 3 points, 3 teams more than 5 (Chelsea 38 points 32 goals, Burnley 32 from 16 (amazing) and huds 21 from 16.

If you struggle to score goals, a good defence is a MUST....Burnley joint best defence (12 conceded) with Man City and Man Utd.

Depends what the definition is. If a shot is from an opponent giving the ball away is this a chance created? Are multiple shots from a “chance create” defined as one or multiple chances etc.
