FERGUSON BOYCOTTING SKY OVER ROONEY CRITICISM
Posted 05/11/08 08:34EmailPrintSave
Sir Alex Ferguson is refusing to speak to Sky Sports after two of the station's pundits dared to criticise Wayne Rooney's recent behaviour.
Ferguson is livid over comments made by Paul Merson and Phil Thompson and has warned that he will not co-operate with the station before or after tonight's match with Celtic. The Manchester United has refused to speak to Sky ahead of the Champions League fixture and has given no indication the boycott will be lifted for Saturday's trip to Arsenal.
Thompson enraged Ferguson by opining that Rooney ought to have been sent off against Everton for kissing the Manchester United badge in an apparent bid to antagonise the Goodison Park crowd two weeks ago while Merson was adamant that Rooney should have been dismissed for either of the two fouls he committed late on against Hull this weekend.
The incidents were not included in Match of the Day's highlights package of the game.
