FERGUSON BOYCOTTING SKY OVER ROONEY CRITICISM
Posted 05/11/08 08:34EmailPrintSave

Sir Alex Ferguson is refusing to speak to Sky Sports after two of the station's pundits dared to criticise Wayne Rooney's recent behaviour.

Ferguson is livid over comments made by Paul Merson and Phil Thompson and has warned that he will not co-operate with the station before or after tonight's match with Celtic. The Manchester United has refused to speak to Sky ahead of the Champions League fixture and has given no indication the boycott will be lifted for Saturday's trip to Arsenal.

Thompson enraged Ferguson by opining that Rooney ought to have been sent off against Everton for kissing the Manchester United badge in an apparent bid to antagonise the Goodison Park crowd two weeks ago while Merson was adamant that Rooney should have been dismissed for either of the two fouls he committed late on against Hull this weekend.

The incidents were not included in Match of the Day's highlights package of the game.

Tell us something we don't already know. The great managers of all time will be turning in their graves to have comparisons with this odious, classless fuckwit.

Who will he talk to now then? He refuses to speak to the Beeb and now Sky has been put on his ignore list. A great manager but a total cock.

It always riles me that Sir Bobby Robson, one of the nicest and one of our most sucsessful England and club managers had to wait longer for his knighthood than the whingeing, moaning jock ..
Sir Bobby is a true Knight and is ten times better as a person

It amazes me that someone who claims to have a socialist background is so keen to act like a facist **** so often.

My thoughts exactly. Amazingly he would still claim to be a socialist, yet acts like a total prima donna. Only manager in the world not to do league press conferences? Everyone gets the quotes off MUTV, where the questions are, let's say, rather more reverential.

In one way I hope when he retires all the papers and media organisations tell him to get f****d when he wants all the career tributes - but I suppose that would make them as pathetic as him.

What a f***ing baby!! If he is that pissed off, why doesn't he just phone up Merson or Thompson and have a go at them privately?

He's as much of a media whore as the next person and it's pathetic

If he was truly a socialist he would have resigned from Manchester United a long time ago.

To be honest I can never understand what he's rambling on about when he does get interviewed

Ferguson subbed Rooney almost immediately after he kissed the badge. The media portrayed this as a preventative measure rather than a tactical substitution. I don't think, therefore, Ferguson can have much of a beef with Thompson's views.

It's about as disrespectful an act as a player can commit to fans of his ex-club. It would have been less of an insult if he'd dropped his shorts to them.

As for Merson's comments they're the sort of routine remarks he makes about players of every team, including Arsenal, day in day out.

Ferguson is a great manager but a proper cock. Wenger, by stark contrast, has a good relationship with the media even though, like this week, he has every reason to be pissed off.

Saw this live on Soccer Saturday & if I remeber it correctly, Phil Thpompson defended him saying it was nothing really - think it was Sir Jeff Stelling who said this.

Le Tiss also supported Rooney saying what do you expect when the Everton crowd were on his back all match !
