Saw this tweet in reply to the Turkish journalist who posted ⏳🔵⚪️ earlier and I’ve got to say; ‘cok sukur‘ was much less homophobic than I assumed it was at first :lolol:

Get what you're saying but any forum is social media. The big ones, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc rightly get a hammering for their net output as I believe it is bad, whereas good sites such as this, which are full of kind and helpful people from every walk of life are in my experience overwhelmingly a force for good.
Indeed. The term "Social Media" as a phrase to describe online spaces where people interact / communicate originates in the mid-to-late 90's. Exactly who and when the term was first used is disputed, but it definitely pre-dates any of Facebook, Twitter, etc and covers far more than what today's youngsters think. Discussion forums like NSC are definitely a form of Social Media.

The journo posted an egg timer, so let’s make 5 pages on what exactly that could mean and why.

Yep. Always saying don’t believe Twitter!

Edit: It is indeed a rumour thread. A lot on here are taking everything posted on Twitter as gospel.
Honestly stop. Having already admitted that you don't use Twitter and clearly don't understand how it works do you honestly think that talks have not been ongoing between the two clubs for quite some time? It may not happen (because all transfers can collapse or we can be gazumped) but all intelligent sources are pointing the same way. If you don't want to use Twitter then fine but virtually every single transfer story has originated from a Twitter post and to constantly post on a rumour thread saying its not going to happen because it's on Twitter is somewhat ridiculous.

(Edit: sorry, not sure why I quoted you in the end ... it was more directed at the person you quoted!)

Twitter is no different from other possible sources. It's just an online reflection of how gossip and rumour mills have always worked. Don't judge the validity of a rumour based on "where" it has been presented. Base it on "who" has presented it and whether or not the content of the rumour "passes the smell test".

Twitter has its fair share of dodgy rumour mongers who make shit up. So does every other platform, including your local pub. Twitter also has its fair share of sources who have connections and regularly provide rumours that have legs. As does every other platform, including your local pub.

I'd personally place Romano in the latter group. He has connections. He hears things. He gets fed stuff deliberately in order to help make things happen. Does he always get things right? Nope, he doesn't. Is he a bit of a bellend? Yup, he is. Does he lack the ability to apply some critical thinking as to whether he should/should not post something he's heard / been asked to post? I reckon he might. But does that make him a source we should always ignore? No, it doesn't. Because whether we like it or not, he *is* connected. What we need to do as consumers of rumours is to apply our own critical thinking to what he provides us. Are there signs that he's being "used" by an agent / club (eg Caicedo)? Are there other corroborating sources? Does the rumour fit with other information we already know?

Keep in mind: rumours exist because deals take time to happen. A rumour that gets posted today could be fully accurate, and yet still never happen because something changes tomorrow. IMO Romano tends to share rumours at a much earlier phase of discussions that others; he does it because he's looking to get the scoop, but he also faces a much higher risk of the rumour not panning out.

"EXCLUSIVE | Brighton made official contact with the player's side to add Ferdi Kadıoğlu to their squad and asked about his situation!"

We've only just asked about his situation?
No, he’s quoting his original tweet 7th July (to suggest he called it right from the beginning) the 🔵⚪⌛️ emojis from the new tweet suggest it’s finally done (as I called it in July)
