Anyone going to watch this full-blown madman jump of his balcony from 120km up?

Within 40 seconds of jumping, he's expected to go through the sound barrier - while scientists on the ground measure what happened to people's bodies when they go through the sound barrier without the use of an aeroplane or a large catapult.

The fun starts at 1300 BST today, with the jump about 3 hours later.

I'll be watching (I'm presuming that BBC News is showing it live?)

The guy's taken adrenaline junkiedom to a new level. If he survives this, where does he go from here? How could he possibly trump this?

Same, but without the parachute. Lots and lots of cardboard boxes piled high - could even break the world record for the biggest heap of cardboard boxes - ever.

Strangely there was a very odd film Siesta - Rotten Tomatoes back in the '80's with a similar premise in the plot. The only occassion that I know of where Ellen Barkin, Grace Jones and Jodi Foster appear in the same film as Alexi Sayle!

I'm sure a bloke did something similar back in the 60's or 70's. I'm sure I read somewhere that his eyes froze shut for a few minutes.

Here you go.....

This was done before in 1959 by Joseph Kittinger,I found out by listening to a dramatisation on BBC4, there was a hole smaller than a pin prick in Kittenger's suit and the fear was his organs could have been sucked out through it, it is madness

EDIT: apologies I didnt see in the link the mention of Kittinger at first, Ill now just keep qiute
