Really?

I was in Chicago recently and when I said I came from England my hosts seriously assumed I must know ever Englishmen they had ever met be they from Northumberland or Cornwall. I kind of assume Ireland to be much the same :lolol:

Seriously I phoned a friend who lives near Ipswich (but has never seen them play as he supports Man U!!!!) He says Bowditch might come back on loan but apparently Richards is unlikely as he has put up with shit from the home fans forever and refuses to give in to it so wont want to move. Shame because that sounds exactly the kind of character we desperately need

There's a lot of fever on here about O'Callaghan..... I'll believe it when the ink drys... let's hold back our excitement till then.

Fair enough. But two clubs agreeing a fee is kind of indicative of him not really featuring in Ipswich's plans.

True TLO but the phrase 'personal terms' gives me the willies. Seems there are too many chickens being counted before they hatch.

Henderson told the Irish Independent (parent paper of your "Independent") that his problems at Brighton were entirely with DK, not the manager or the fans....

...and that we are not a decent club and don't play at a proper level.

Upbeat Henderson in limbo no longer

Henderson: glad he made move to Preston

Daniel McDonnell Wednesday August 22 2007

WAYNE HENDERSON has little to complain about these days as, finally, some stability has been brought to his club situation.

After his time at Brighton went sour, the Dubliner spent large parts of last season in limbo. Then came a move to Preston and it's been positive since as he started the new campaign as the number one goalkeeper at Deepdale.

Certainly, being a Championship regular is more preferable to League One.

"It was crucial to get out of there as quickly as I could," admits Henderson. "Preston are a totally different club and it was a chance to play at a decent club and at a proper level.

"It's a great opportunity. At Brighton, the chairman and myself didn't see eye to eye. There was other stuff I didn't much know about but now I'm at a much bigger club and the record speaks for itself."

Technically, it helps Henderson's international chances but the prospect of being number one is likely to diminish once Shay Given returns.

The Newcastle man won't be involved in Aarhus tonight due to injury and that will give Henderson or Colin Doyle a chance. But he doesn't welcome his absence.

"The biggest disappointment of this week is not training with Shay," says Henderson. "Every time I come here I relish the chance to play and train with the legend he is.

"He has been there and done that and performed so consistently. So I just want to come away and learn as much as I can. We're blessed we have such a good goalkeeping coach in Alan Kelly and we want to get as much from these trips as possible."

Hrm, the tabloid version does "edit some stories for brevity"; including clearly that one (the broadsheet is unreadable on a tram). Bastard.

There is a reason Richards has to put up with shit from the Ipswich fans and thats because he is a liabilty most of the time. At left back he'd be no better than Mayo and playing him in left midfield he'd offer less there than Dean Cox does.
