Actually I think it's mostly the JCLs who started watching the Albion in the successful promotion season (the last at the Withdean) in order to get some priority for their Amex tickets. For some reason they see Murray as some sort of goal machine when he was nothing of the sort. IMHO he was a miserable bugger who never fitted in with the team, popped up with goals which bounced off his lazy arse very so often and had a bad attitude to boot. Surely it's not just me that remembers him like that during his time with us? Good riddance!
It was obvious at the time why Gus off-loaded him, IMHO.
Nothing has changed - yes we do need a good striker but that person is not ffs Murray, never was. Yep I am very very bored with the stupid JCLs who saw just that last successful season and for some reason thought Murray was the messiah. Much of that successful season was down to the rest of the team - and the person we then missed most in recent years was ELLIOTT BENNETT, surely?
My favourite player by some margin the WHOLE time he was with us. Obviously total quality from the moment he joined us but was mostly playing with hernia problems. Pre Gus getting him as a fully fit goal machine he was head and shoulders above most in the team, who gives a shit that he was a bit surly/shy and didn't wave to the fans at every opportunity.
I hate this writing off of him as player when he was here, it's just sour grapes. yes he's gone, Gus cocked up but please let's not rewrite history. He was a joy to watch when fit and on form. The club should have sorted out his hernia problems sooner and perhaps this tag of being lazy wouldn't have stuck.
